Escape to the stunning Down Hall Hotel & Spa: Image 1 Head of Social Media, Kay Tilbury, shares all details of her luxurious stay at the stunning Down Hall Hotel & Spa.

Set in 110 acres of surrounding woodland, parkland and landscaped gardens Down Hall is one of England's most established country house hotels and conveniently located in Hatfield Heath, near Bishop's Stortford on the Hertfordshire and Essex border.

A long winding, stone driveway surrounded by greenery, leads you up to the historic mansion. The grand exterior instantly welcomes you inside.

Friendly staff checked us in and directed us to our beautiful Deluxe Room - which was a simple yet elegant design featuring comfortable king-sized bed, tranquil rainfall shower and large flat screen TV. This room is perfect for couples looking for cosy weekend away pre- or -post wedding.

Upon arrival, we were given a map of walking routes around the grounds - we couldn't wait to get out there and discover more. As you walk around the venue you really get to appreciate the size and immaculate exterior of the building – there are ample backdrop opportunities for wedding day photos, which would look simply stunning all year round.

We couldn't help but take a tour inside the venue too – each room is carefully decorated to compliment the history of the build – featuring huge chandeliers, antique furniture, incredible wall art and cosy open fires. The atmosphere is so relaxed it gives a real home-from-home feel.

Before heading inside the Grill Room Restaurant for our dinner, we sat enjoying a cocktail in front of an open fire. The bar area is very chilled and definitely a place for those just looking to enjoy a drink away from the hustle and bustle.

The Grill Room Restaurant is an ideal location for informal dining in beautiful historic surroundings. The restaurant is decorated with Italian wood flooring, dark wood tables and large windows that let in an abundance of natural daylight.

The modern English menu is prepared with ingredients sourced from its very own vegetable garden. I started off with the Pigeon Breast, followed by a heavenly Pork belly, which I even said "this is the best meal I've ever ate" - and I eat out a lot. I finished off my meal with a delicious walnut chocolate mouse. If you're a foodie, visiting this restaurant is a real must.

After a peaceful nights sleep, we enjoyed a full English breakfast in the room before heading back into reality.

The Down Hall Spa & Hotel really does provide the perfect space to host your big day. There are oodles of photo opportunities, friendly staff, and rooms available to make you feel as though the venue is exclusively yours.
