"I 'd love to say there's a wonderful, romantic love story about how we met,” Hannah begins. “But it's probably how most start these days, on good old social media!” She met Kyle through Facebook in 2015: a friend request was sent and received, a few profile picture likes were exchanged, which in turn led to messaging and the rest is history.

Kyle proposed four days before Christmas in 2021, and the moment was just how Hannah had dreamed it. “I'd taken a day off work to go to the hairdressers and do the beauty prep for the festive period,” she remembers. “When I got home, I was met by Daisy, our English bulldog, wearing a new red collar. I didn't think anything of it, just said 'hello' and continued on into the living room where I found Kyle. He was on one knee holding out the most beautiful wedding ring with Mariah Carey's All I Want For Christmas playing in the background.” His question was met with much excitement, and of course, the all-important, “Yes!” Kyle then went on to ask if Hannah had seen the tag on Daisy's collar, she admitted that she hadn't, and bent down to check then. It read: “Will you marry dad?”

Sophie and Harry met through mutual friends while attending university in Liverpool. There was an instant attraction, thanks to their similar sense of humour.

In July 2021, Harry proposed in the Trough of Bowland, Lancashire, where the couple were away on holiday. “It wasn't a complete surprise, as we'd discussed marriage, and Harry doesn't usually book the holidays!” Sophie tells us. The exterior of Shrigley Hall is quite magnificent and is what enticed Sophie and Harry to investigate it further as a potential venue for their big day. When they had the chance to look around, they soon discovered that the interiors were equally as impressive and were quickly sold on the idea. “The wedding team were also fantastic and made our planning stress free,” Sophie says. The pair opted for the venue's All Wrapped Up package, which included the services of the venue's recommended suppliers, making life even easier.

With the date secured for 27th October 2023, planning was in full swing. Find out more about the big day in the Mar/Apr24 issue of Your Cheshire & Merseyside Wedding, free to download at www.yourcheshiremerseyside.wedding/free-download

Tilly and Jordan met when they were teenagers. “We got along really well and had lots in common,” says Tilly. “Jordan proposed in 2017 at Centre Parcs. He bought our daughter a babygrow that said, “mummy, will you marry daddy?” It was a complete surprise and I was very shocked.”

"We chose Hungarian Hall for our reception because the hall was perfect for our chilled-out, relaxed day and the grounds were just beautiful. The owners were also very kind and attentive to our needs."

Olivia and Luke met in 2018 at work. “I was Luke’s boss,” says Olivia. “He convinced me that he was a qualified personal trainer, so we started going to the gym together, became best friends, and ended up falling in love.”

Luke surprised Olivia by popping the question in 2021. “He took me on a treasure hunt to all of the key places in my life, such as where I was born, where I went to school, and where we like to double date with our best friends,” shares the bride. “He took inspiration from the movie Love Actually by writing out cards that had poems on them that my loved ones were holding at each stop. These poems would give me clues on where we were going next. There were 12 stops in total and the final stop was a beautiful picnic set up in a field next to where we’d just bought a house. The final poem said: ‘You asked for a house, and there it came. Now will you share my last name?’ He got down on one knee and I burst out crying! He’d also planned an engagement party at our favourite restaurant for that evening, where we celebrated with our friends and family.”

Jewellery designer and maker, Elizabeth Anne Norris tells us how you can make your own wedding rings.

"Most couples who come to make their wedding rings have no prior experience. After a 30-minute consultation about your rings, there’s a four-hour workshop with step-by-step tuition showing you how to create your wedding rings to your design. I break the process down into easy to follow steps, demonstrating each step before you go and carry out the step yourself.

"You’ll have expert support, where I check your progress at every stage and, rest assured, I can fix any mistakes − doubtful that’ll happen though!

"Provided you don’t want them hallmarked, laser-engraved or stones added you can take your rings with you on the day. If you do want any of the additional services, I can arrange all of that for you and let you know how long they will take."

Camilla from Amelia Ray Events shares her top tips for planning your dream wedding.

"From the beginning, set and agree on a budget! Be sure to sit together and think about a realistic, achievable budget that will not leave you struggling in your everyday life. It does not have to be a lot; it can be as little as £3,000 if that’s what you want to spend.

"Be sure to research ideas for your wedding that you will love (we love a Pinterest board), then you can look at which suppliers suit your style and who can bring your perfect vision to life.

"If you feel too much pressure or would like to save time and potentially money, consider hiring a wedding planner. Planners are not as expensive as people think! They can also help save money in the long run; they have good working relationships with suppliers; they know all the best venues; and they can help organise the whole day so you don’t have to worry."
