Rachel and Andy met at university in Lincoln. “Andy was a lovely, attractive guy who was completely different to anyone I'd ever met,” Rachel shares. “He made me so happy, and I enjoyed spending time with him. I felt lucky when he asked me out.” Meanwhile, Andy found himself attracted to Rachel's personality and sense of humour. “As we got to know each other, I realised just how much fun she was, and it didn't take long for me to know she was someone truly special,” he says.
Andy proposed at Disneyworld Florida beneath the Tree of Life in Animal Kingdom. “It was a complete surprise, and I was in utter shock because after nine years I thought it'd never happen!” Rachel tells us. “She didn't expect me to propose in public as I'm quite a reserved person,” Andy says. “The nerves showed as I opened the ring box upside down at first!”
Rise Hall was the first venue the couple visited but that was enough for them! They fell instantly in love with the secluded countryside setting. “No other venue could compare,” Rachel remembers. The beautiful historic charm provided the perfect backdrop for their special day, while the gorgeous grounds offered an array of stunning photo opportunities. “It was the perfect setting, making it everything we'd dreamed of for our wedding,” Rachel explains.
So, they didn't hesitate, the date was set for 22nd June 2024. Here, Rachel shares her memories of the big day and gives us a peek behind the scenes of their planning.

From rival secondary schools, Izzy and Will had known of each other, sharing mutual friends but never crossed paths. That was until fate intervened and they connected while Izzy was at university. Will went to visit her there, and that's when their story truly began.
Will proposed during a trip to Australia in 2022. They were there visiting Izzy's sister and decided to take a beautiful coastal walk together from Rose Bay to Watsons Bay in Sydney. Along the way, they came across the charming little cove, Queen's Beach, and stopped for a swim. As Izzy set her towel down, she turned to find Will on one knee. “It was a moment so perfect and unexpected,” she remembers. “I had no idea what he'd planned, and it was the most wonderful surprise of my life.”
The couple dreamed of a beautiful church wedding, so finding a reception venue within walking distance was important. “When we discovered Bury Manor Barn, it felt like everything we'd hoped for and more,” Izzy explains. “We immediately fell in love with its picturesque charm, with the lovely church just next door and the breathtaking views overlooking the River Arun. It felt like the perfect setting.” The venue offered a dry hire option, which was also appealing to the couple, giving them the opportunity to add their own personal touches and make the space uniquely theirs. So, with dream venue in hand the date was set for 1st June 2024.

Jemima and Nathanael met at church when Jemima moved to Salisbury. They were both invited to lunch by a family from there, which was the first time they met. It also happened to be Nathanael's birthday!
Nathanael proposed on his birthday two years to the day since that first meeting. They'd both booked the day off work and decided to go for a very rainy, windy walk near Hengistbury Head. An hour into their stroll at the top of the Head, Nathanael got down on one knee and asked Jemima to marry him. “I knew a proposal was coming soon, but I wasn't 100 per cent sure when,” Jemima says. “The moment felt very special.”
Unfortunately, their own church wasn't quite big enough to host all of their nearest and dearest, so the couple decided to say “I do” at Salisbury Baptist Church. The main hall is upstairs, while the downstairs was perfect for their afternoon tea wedding breakfast following the ceremony. When they viewed the church for the fi rst time, they took their fl orist with them to discuss adorning the venue and putting together their vision. “It made me excited to see it all come together,” Jemima remembers.

Pagie and Jordan met at the Reading Festival when they were teenagers, after chatting online for two years. The two knew they were soul mates the day they met and didn't leave each other's sides for the entire festival. However, they also knew that aged 16 and 17 they were too young to make a long-distance relationship work (Paige lived in Manchester and Jordan in Durham) so, they decided to remain best friends. Sadly, they lost contact for a few years, but reconnected when Paige moved to Paris to work and the two flew bi-weekly to each other in Paris and Durham, which is when love blossomed between them. Now adults, they managed to maintain their long-distance love for around six months before deciding to settle together in Manchester and have never looked back. “The universe finally brought us together just when the time was right,” Paige says.
Jordan proposed six years into their relationship. The couple went engagement ring shopping together in the summer of 2023, before Jordan put it away for a rainy day! It turned out to be a very sunny day though when he proposed in their swim-up suite in their favourite hotel in Majorca a month later.
The duo love the historical Gothic style and Paige is a huge Disney fan, so they wanted their wedding to look like a real-life fairytale. They knew Allerton Castle was the place for them right away, especially with it being the halfway point between their families in Manchester and Durham. “It's like it was made for us,” Paige shares. They were also completely sold by the grand staircase, perfect for the bride's royal princess entrance, allowing her to reenact the Cinderella ballroom scene of her dreams for the first dance.
So, with the date set for 29th August 2024, the couple set about planning their own fairytale. Join us as we hear more about the magical big day from the bride herself...

Charlotte and Thomas met on Hinge and swiped right during lockdown in 2020. Charlotte found herself immediately attracted to Tom as he was always a man with a plan for each date, making it impossible for her to say “no.” He'd been looking to settle down and knew he'd found a “good one” in Charlottle when he got to date her and keep his Harlequins season ticket!
Tom proposed in 2023. The jig was almost up when Charlottle bumped into him carrying a bouquet of flowers for her while she was out running. Not usually one for giving flowers, he had to think on his feet to dodge the inevitable quizzing, and explained they were a surprise for the hard work she'd been putting into to training for a marathon. Charlotte started to grow even more suspicious when her sister booked her a nail appointment as a treat, but she didn't realise that the Saturday would be the day. She came home to find Tom on one knee in their kitchen with their neighbour's cat there for moral support! “It was an easy 'yes' and we celebrated with drinks at The Shard,” Charlotte remembers.
The couple planned to celebrate their wedding day in style with a big party and the church, and Southend Barns made this possible for them. St Thomas à Becket Church in Warblington is a rural place of worship close to Charlotte's parent's home and has a great many sentimental connections for her since her grandparents are buried there and various family members have married there. “It felt special to be able to share the day with loved ones who couldn't be there in person,” Charlottle says.
Southend Barns came highly recommended by a work colleague of the bride's, and when the couple viewed it they were impressed by the team's organisation and attention to detail – “The resident alpacas clinched it for us,” says Charlotte. “We also loved the flexibility the various spaces offered, allowing us to have different areas for each part of the day and the opportunity to incorporate special touches such as cocktail hour, fireworks and live music. You can tell the venue is a labour of love and we felt lucky to be able to use it for our day.”
