Swing dancers Jo and Tim chose a rainbow colour scheme to brighten up their spring big day

Jo Franchetti, 32, married Timothy Ball, 36, at The Old Finsbury Town Hall on 3rd March, 2018.

When we visited The Old Finsbury Town Hall and saw its stunning Art Nouveau ballroom we just fell in love. It's a beautiful venue and the team there were great.

Rainbow bright: Image 2aI knew I needed a dress I could swing dance in, which meant not floor-length or I'd be sure to stand on it.

Rainbow bright: Image 2 My hair colour was done at NotAnotherSalon on Brick Lane, then my sister curled my hair on the day to show off the pink/purple gradient.

Tim wore formal white tie evening wear in a vintage style with patent leather shoes and spats. We sourced bits from all over and then his outfit was fitted by The Pattern, a vintage tailor in Cambridge Heath.

Rainbow bright: Image 4aOriginally, I wanted bright, rainbow-coloured blooms for my bouquet but when the dress arrived I realised a more muted palette would work better. The flowers lasted for weeks after the big day.

Rainbow bright: Image 4 For the centrepieces, I spray-painted twigs in silver and decorated them with a rainbow of origami flowers. I hung tiny vials of glitter in each one for the guests to take away.

For my bridesmaids, I chose a spectrum of colours that I love, which I call 'peacock rainbow', namely pink, blue, turquoise and purple. I assigned them each a shade and let them choose from there.

Rainbow bright: Image 6aMy incredibly talented cousin is a baker and made the cake to my brief. We went with four tiers in white with rainbow drips, sweets, meringues and flowers, crowned with a golden top tier. It was perfect.

Rainbow bright: Image 6 We gave miniature bottles of rose-lychee liquor to our guests as favours. Many of them told them it warmed their journey home through the snow!

We asked the caterers to arrange the chair tiebacks and napkins so each place setting had its own colour, creating a rainbow around the circular tables.

We knew we wanted swing music for at least part of the reception. The London Dance Orchestra is an incredibly fun and talented band so booking them was a no-brainer.

We met Helen of Gin Fizz Photographic on the swing dancing scene; her friendly nature helped us relax and really enjoy the process.
