Can’t take my eyes off you

From admiring her beau from afar to the instant attraction they both felt when they met, Zoey and Jason were meant to be together

"We first met in a local pub,” recalls Zoey, “I'd fancied him for ages but never did anything about it. Then, on this night, he was told I was single, grabbed me and it was pretty much love at first sight!”

Despite this whirlwind of emotions it was nine years before they got engaged. In fact, Zoey describes it as a 'huge shock' as she thought he didn't want to get married. “We love going out for dinner, so it came as no surprise when he said he was taking me somewhere for the weekend. However, that Friday I'd got my days mixed up and made a lasagne for us to eat. We stayed in with that and he suddenly turned to me and said 'I think we should get married.' He really should have waited for the dinner reservations the following day for a tiny bit of romance but he said he couldn't wait!”

Here, Zoey tells us more about their dream day…

I'd been looking for ages and finally narrowed it down to five venues; Jason liked three of them. We decided to see Buxted Park first and booked it there and then – we didn't even want to see the others! We both loved the Orangery and the outside space.

I found it really difficult to decide on my bridal bouquet. I showed my florist the colours I wanted because I was trying to tie in our centrepieces.

Can’t take my eyes off you: Image 4aI opted for a smoky eye and red lips for my make-up, which complemented the pale flowers we had.

We simply opted for numbers for our tables.

We draped fabric around the Orangery to add a bit of subtle decoration without going overboard.

Can’t take my eyes off you: Image 8aMy gown was by Maggie Sottero. I loved it because it was beautiful and a bit different. It was the second dress I chose as I'd originally picked a massive princess-style one but decided that this isn't how I wanted to look in the end. I just wanted to feel beautiful, which I definitely did in that dress and its low back allowed me to show off my tattoo.

Can’t take my eyes off you: Image 8 I felt anxious and excited all day. I remember trying not to cry as I walked down the aisle, but as soon as I held Jason's hand I felt so much emotion and for the rest of the day we were both blissfully happy.

The bridesmaids wore silvery-grey multiway dresses from Missguided to suit a variety of styles and shapes while the men looked very dapper in their blue suits

We chose to have garden games for the children and a giant Mr and Mrs sign that everyone seemed to take a liking to. We also had drinks and canapés flowing all afternoon so our guests were well fed and watered.
