"We first met in a local pub,” recalls Zoey, “I'd fancied him for ages but never did anything about it. Then, on this night, he was told I was single, grabbed me and it was pretty much love at first sight!”
Despite this whirlwind of emotions it was nine years before they got engaged. In fact, Zoey describes it as a 'huge shock' as she thought he didn't want to get married. “We love going out for dinner, so it came as no surprise when he said he was taking me somewhere for the weekend. However, that Friday I'd got my days mixed up and made a lasagne for us to eat. We stayed in with that and he suddenly turned to me and said 'I think we should get married.' He really should have waited for the dinner reservations the following day for a tiny bit of romance but he said he couldn't wait!”
Here, Zoey tells us more about their dream day…
We had simple and sweet favours with classic sticks of rock that had been cut to reveal our hidden message.
Our centrepieces were gorgeous flowers placed in birdcages. I had so much fun designing and creating them.
I opted for a smoky eye and red lips for my make-up, which complemented the pale flowers we had.
I designed our cake after hours of research and Willow and Bloom made it to order for us.
The rings were possibly one of the most important parts of the whole day!
Our little pageboys looked very cute.
My gown was by Maggie Sottero. I loved it because it was beautiful and a bit different. It was the second dress I chose as I'd originally picked a massive princess-style one but decided that this isn't how I wanted to look in the end. I just wanted to feel beautiful, which I definitely did in that dress and its low back allowed me to show off my tattoo.
I felt anxious and excited all day. I remember trying not to cry as I walked down the aisle, but as soon as I held Jason's hand I felt so much emotion and for the rest of the day we were both blissfully happy.
Poor Jason got covered in lipstick after our first kiss!
Our photographer helped guide us through our day. She made me feel relaxed from start to finish and at some points in the day I didn't even realise she was there.
