Catherine and Matthew's big day at New Barton Barns followed a vintage theme and a burnt orange colour palette

Catherine Brown, 24, married Matthew Bennett (Matt), 24, at New Barton Barns in Plymouth, Devon, on 30th July, 2016.

We opted for round tables headed by a long top table. We mixed family and friends on each table and had a board made from mismatched picture frames.

Love al fresco: Image 2aOur chair backs were hessian bows decorated with lavender.

Love al fresco: Image 2 To suit our vintage theme, we had afternoon tea as our meal choice. Our centrepieces were cake stands that were made from vintage plates that we'd collected ourselves.

Our favours were a free shot at the bar to get the party started.

Love al fresco: Image 4aEach table was named after a variety of gin and that particular type was provided for each table along with a delicious recipe that they could put together at the homemade bar.

Love al fresco: Image 4 We served gin with the afternoon tea instead of wine because we love it! Each guest had their own gin jar with their name chalked onto a small blackboard sticker.

We had flowers decorating the venue that were picked by my aunt from her garden.

Love al fresco: Image 6aMy dress was a full-length lace style with cap sleeves and a small train. It was traditional with a vintage twist to tie in with our theme and I teamed this with a veil.

Love al fresco: Image 6 Underneath my dress I wore bright orange Converse trainers while my bridesmaids wore white high top Converse rolled down to reveal a paisley lining to match the groomsmen's bow ties.

My bouquet was made from brooches and jewellery and I chose to use faux flowers in our bridesmaids' bouquets.

Love al fresco: Image 8aWe married in front of an altar in the middle of a field. It was handmade by the father-of-the-groom from reclaimed pallets and decorated with a beautiful flower arrangement. It framed the backdrop of the sea perfectly.

Love al fresco: Image 8 We decided on a mix of cupcakes and a decorated fruitcake topped with handmade sugar flowers. A slightly tiddly Matt knocked the cake over while trying to cut a slice out of it!

Matt and his groomsmen all wore white shirts, a tweed-style waistcoat, a paisley bow tie and brown shoes. To stand out, Matt wore a suit jacket and a pocket watch that was a wedding gift from me.

Love al fresco: Image 10aWe'd written our own vows and one of our oldest friends carried out the ceremony for us. She made it personal, funny and heart-warming and had our guests both laughing and crying!

Love al fresco: Image 10 Before the afternoon tea, we provided Pimm's cocktails while a live musician played in the courtyard. The weather was beautiful and it got everyone singing!

My bridesmaids wore a knee-length burnt orange multi-way dress. This meant they were in the same dresses but could style them to suit their shape.
