A walk in the park

Sophie-Dee and Jake enjoyed a simple celebration with friends and family at The Walled Garden at Beeston Fields

Sophie-Dee Thomas and Jake Sheridan, both 29, tied the knot at Beeston Fields Walled Garden on 24th June, 2016.

We knew instantly that the venue was right for us and the team made the planning process so easy.

A walk in the park: Image 2aWe wanted a summer barbeque garden par ty-style for our day and a laid back vibe that allowed our guests to mingle, chat and play games.

A walk in the park: Image 2 We wanted our ceremony to take place in the late afternoon in front of just a handful of our closest family and friends.

As we walked back down the aisle together, to the tune of Here Comes the Sun by The Beatles, the rain stopped and a beautiful warm sunny, June afternoon led us through the rest of the day. We couldn't believe our luck.

A walk in the park: Image 4aI tried on three different dresses, but went back to buy the first one I tried on. I'd originally wanted a slim fitting, simple dress but mine was absolutely per fect. It nipped in at my waist and the skir t gave me some shape without being big or full. It also felt quite whimsical, which I loved.

Our son Theo was page boy. He wore a miniature version of Jake's suit but with tailored shorts and converse trainers.

A walk in the park: Image 6aMy sister Holly was my bridesmaid. She wore a blush-pink dress that matched the colour of the skir t of my gown. It also had beautiful pearl detailing on the shoulders.

A walk in the park: Image 6 We made a photo timeline using a row of young trees lining the marquee. It added a lovely personal feel to the place.

For my flowers I decided on lavender that my sister and I each grew in our gardens. We had a few slightly different variations, which looked great and the scent was amazing!

A walk in the park: Image 8aMy mum made our cakes. She's an incredible baker and her fruitcakes are legendary! She made four huge ones for the day and decorated them beautifully with fresh summer berries, pearls, glacé fruits and gold decorations so they looked like open treasure troves!

A walk in the park: Image 8 Evie has been doing my hair for a few years and is fantastic at braiding and up-do's.

On the day be fore the wedding I went to a local flower market stall and bought a few bunches of things I liked. I added these to the remaining lavender in various glass bottles and vases that we placed throughout the venue.

A walk in the park: Image 10aMy make-up on the day was the same as my every day look but amplified. I'm a bit of a cosmetics junkie so I knew exactly what I wanted.

A walk in the park: Image 10 Our ceremony wasn't until 4pm, so after this, while photos were being taken, drinks were flowing and guests were mingling, we had a lovely playlist playing in the marquee and our guests were happy exploring the gardens.

Our photographer was completely accommodating of what we wanted. We asked for no formal group shots as we wanted our photos to tell the story of the day in a series of little moments caught from afar.

Our first dance was Alicia Keyes' If I Aint Got You, which mixed into Good Times b y Jamie X X about half way through to kick star t the par t y!
