Having first come across one another on dating site Plenty of Fish, Pippy admits that she didn't have high hopes for her first date with Steven. “I wasn't sure we were compatible but when we met and chatted more, I was blown away. He was the most lovely, polite man I'd ever known – such a gentleman. I didn't want our first date to end.”
It's no wonder, then, that almost two years later while on holiday in the Lake District, Steven popped the question – although an encounter with some local sheep almost ruined the moment. “As we were eating our picnic, we began to be encircled by a flock of sheep – I was scared and asked to move so we repaired to a pretty park nearby where Steven proposed,” laughs Pippy.
The couple spent a year planning their Alice in Wonderland-themed wedding, with Pippy taking on the majority of the organisation. “I loved bringing my ideas to life,” she explains.
Here, Pippy tells us more about the big day…
Steven wore a dark blue checked suit from Slaters with a white rabbit tie in light blue to fit with the theme.
I travelled to the venue in a light-blue Campervan called Norris.
I loved everything about our cake – Steven is a coeliac, so it had to be gluten-free. It tasted great.
Karen at Ruby Tuesday Events advised on our flower arrangements – we chose seasonal blooms in a blue and white palette to fit the theme, displayed throughout the venue in glass baubles, birdcages and vintage china.
