Mary and Adam's nuptials were celebrated at Cheshire's gorgeous Delamere Manor, complete with a vintage bird theme

Mary Newport and Adam Strefford met at a school they were both teaching at, having found themselves in similar stages in life. “We found ourselves both separated, with a shared passion for art and creativity – and we both have the same sense of humour!” says Mary. “I loved Mary's bohemian-style, flair and love for life, we clicked immediately.” adds Adam.

Two years later, Adam proposed to Mary by the river in Chester.

“We'd been talking about it for a while but I know Mary hoped it would be sooner rather than later!” recalls Adam. The happy couple set the big date for the 3rd June, 2016. Their summer nuptials had a relaxed, intimate vibe with a backdrop for the gorgeous Delamere Manor.

Here, Mary tells us more about their special day...

Lucy Cooper at Clara Cooper photography was perfect at producing natural laid-back photos which for us really captured the feel of the day.

Delamere Manor was just perfect for us. It was small, very accommodating and Rosie Griffin, the wedding coordinator there, is amazing at her job – nothing is too much trouble for her.

Love birds: Image 3aOur tableplan was plant pots of lavender and daisies arranged on a rustic stepladder found in my barn. The guests' names were written on wooden heart pegs and were attached to twisted hazel.

Love birds: Image 3 The cake was made by my mother and I and was sat on a stand created from three log slices of varying heights.

The centrepieces were birdcages arranged with wild flowers.

Love birds: Image 5aMy floor-length gown by Sweetheart was accessorised with a diamanté belt. I tried six on and this was number five, I knew as soon as I tried it on it was the one.

Love birds: Image 5 Adam wore a subtle checked suit with an aqua shirt and tie. While the best man, Adam's brother Guy, wore a suit and tie of his choice.

In the evening we had a disco by Six15 Events to entertain guests. Our first dance was to Rule the World by Take That.

The walk down the aisle, the speeches and the first dance were definitely stand-out moments of the day.
