The great & the glamorous

Sadie and Daniel tied the knot with a trendy '20s-themed New Year's Eve celebration

Sadie and Daniel met in their final year of university. They had both started working at the student union bar when Sadie saw him on a night out and shouted , “Oi, don’t be stealing all my shifts!” “Not very ladylike,” she reveals, “but it turned his head and he even bought me a drink! We were inseparable from our first date.”

Nine months into their relationship they graduated, and post-university life looked bright as the pair discovered Sadie was pregnant.

Their first daughter Taliya was born in March 2009, but Dan was saving another gift for her 30th birthday – a ring!

The pair tied the knot in 2014 on New Year’s Eve where they could now celebrate with their two daughters and all their loved ones. A perfect way to end the year as husband and wife, and they knew everyone would be ready to party.

Here, Sadie reveals more about their dream day…

Sadie and Daniel - New Year's Eve 2014

The great & the glamorous: Image 2aOur fabulous florist created an amazing posy with white roses and a smaller version for my maids. She even added vintage brooches around the stem to tie into our theme.

The great & the glamorous: Image 2 The service was the most important part of the day for us. St Thomas of Canterbury was the church our children were baptised in – It's beautiful and we received invaluable guidance and support from Father Tom leading up to our special day.

Karen Austin decorated the venue for us and it looked amazing. Every detail was special, from the huge Christmas trees decorated in gold to the sparkly tablecloth and crystal garland draped from the ceiling.

The great & the glamorous: Image 4aOur stationery had a glamorous 1920s design. Kays Weddings had created them to a very high standard – in fact, our table plan now hangs in our dining room.

The great & the glamorous: Image 4 Corrine from Classic Cakes created our four-tiered showstopper. It was decorated with sparkling white icing – delicious!

Barbara Spice designed and made my sister Jaide and my sister-in-law Caroline's dresses. There was a beaded motif on the wait to nod to our '20s theme. She's a talented lady.

The great & the glamorous: Image 6aI was fortunate enough to book Grace Benson as my make-up artist. I had a trial and chose to wear lashes for a more glamorous version of my everyday look.

The great & the glamorous: Image 6 Dan's grandparents bought our rings for us and had our names and wedding date engraved.

I was one hundred per cent sure I wanted a lace dress, so of course I didn't end up with that. I ended up with a taffeta one with a lace top and a beaded belt that had the elegance of the 1920s that I'd dreamed of and the top could be removed to create a whole new gown.

The great & the glamorous: Image 8aOur first dance was to Can't Take My Eyes Off You – performed by Samuel Little from a Brighton Band called The Gospel Youth.

The great & the glamorous: Image 8 Our photographer managed to capture the whole atmosphere of the day and how in love we felt.

Dan, his best man Steve and groomsmen Luke, Rob and Mark each wore a tux. James Bond springs to mind!
