A side order of fries

Roxy and Danny combined pretty vintage styling with fish and chips, and knickerbocker glories for their chilled summer wedding.

Five years after they first met, Danny took Roxy to Valencia to celebrate her 30th birthday and unearthed more than she bargained for. He woke her before daybreak to whisk her off to Malvarossa beach to watch the sunrise. “When we got there it was beautiful, but freezing. Danny called me over and said he'd found my present in the sand. He uncovered a shell and inside was an engagement ring. He was down on one knee and, until he actually asked me to marry me, I had no idea what was going on,” Roxy recalls.

The wedding took 12 months to organise, styled around a vintage, English garden theme with a pastel colour scheme. Read on for Roxy's account of their big day...

Roxanne Wicks, 32, married Daniel Smith, 34, at Glemham Hall, Woodbridge on 30th August, 2014.

I picked the bridesmaids' blush pink, Grecian-style dresses and they all loved them. They carried bunches of pink peonies as I wanted to keep the flowers simple.

I tried on about 15 different gowns and when I put my dress on I knew it was the one before I even looked in the mirror. It accentuated my figure in all the right places.

A side order of fries: Image 8aWe had a decorated hamper for collecting the cards.

Wedding This Way

A side order of fries: Image 10aWe didn't want a posh sit-down meal as we're pretty laid-back, so we had fish and chips followed by knickerbocker glories.

A side order of fries: Image 10 We gave our cake maker Kirsty a copy of the invites and asked her to base the design around that. It was absolutely beautiful and tasted amazing.

The centrepieces were flower-filled vintage china jugs and bowls displayed on glass cake stands and decorated with pink table pearls.

A side order of fries: Image 12aWe gave Yankee Candle floral wax tarts to the ladies as favours.
