Jemma and Tom met 10 years ago while studying architecture at Plymouth university. They were friends for more than a year before Tom asked her out on a date.
“We had dinner at Jamie Oliver's Fifteen restaurant in Cornwall, which was a surprise for my 21st birthday. It was a beautiful sunny evening and we had an amazing view of the sunset from our table,” remembers Jemma.
Fast forward seven years and Jemma's birthday marked another significant landmark in their relationship. “We were going to London to celebrate with a day of shopping, lunch and a visit to the viewing gallery at the Shard. We were staying in The Soho Hotel and just before dinner Tom said he had my birthday present and to close my eyes. When I opened them, he was on one knee,” recalls Jemma. After he popped the question, she rang her parents to tell them the news, only to discover they were in on the surprise. “Tom's family and mine were all at the restaurant waiting for us, which was perfect as we all got to share the excitement and celebrate together.”
After qualifying as architects, they started planning the big day in earnest. “It took us about a year once we got started and we did most of the organising together,” says Jemma.
The pair opted for a relaxed barn wedding with an informal afternoon tea reception and hog roast for the evening party.

My gown was a combination of two dresses with bespoke details on the top. I met the designer Sassi Holford and she talked me through the changes and what she thought would suit my figure best. It was a great experience and Sassi made it so easy.
My bouquet was a mixture of seasonal flowers including cappuccino roses and pink astilbe.
The bridesmaids carried white hydrangeas with green foliage which looked clean and simple against their pink dresses.
We decorated the venue with bunting, bay trees, flowers and foliage.
I made our cake with some help from Tom – mostly tasting!
The centrepieces included foliage with a few key flowers in jars, photo frames with the table names and small candle holders.
