Penelope and Bernhard met while at work and it wasn't long before they started dating. "Bernie is not only my best friend but is also honest and trustworthy", describes Penelope. Bernhard adds, "Penny is dependable, kind and a good confidante. She has a playful side and is the best cook ever."
I wore a traditional ivory lace dress from Bridal Gowns at Jodi. The design was simple but elegant, with a satin waist band.
I accessorised my gown with a pearl necklace and bracelet, and I wore a Swarovski tiara with crystal pins in my hair.
I asked Vanessa and Hayley to be my bridesmaids as they're both really close friends of mine. I had two flowergirls, Emma who is Bernie's goddaughter and Ella, my niece. The bridesmaids wore full-length, purple chiffon strapless dresses which complemented my gown.
We had a three-tiered cake comprising layers of chocolate, lemon and Victoria sponge. It looked beautiful and was decorated with intricate iced flowers.
We had our first dance to a song entitled Come Home With Me by the South African band Watershed. This song means a lot to both of us and Bernie first played it to me when we started dating.
My favourite part of the day was when I saw Penny arrive at the church. I was also touched that all of our friends and family were there to celebrate with us as the majority of people had to travel a long way.
