Laura and Alex Chalk married at Upton Barn & Walled Garden on 18th May 2018.
We were attracted to this venue because we wanted an outdoor ceremony with a big party in a barn afterwards and it offered such a wonderful, relaxed atmosphere. The grounds are so beautiful and we were really lucky with the weather.
We went travelling together in 2012 so this became the basis of our wedding theme.
We had cute aeroplane confetti in cones made from world maps.
Our table plan was made using a colourful map of the world and the names were printed on to luggage tags featuring different flags.
My dress was the style Marjorie by Maggie Sottero. I had so much fun trying on different gowns that I didn't want to pick just one!
We loved our multi-tier chocolate and salted caramel cake, and so did our guests!
Our tables were named after our favourite destinations and we had bunting made using map material. We had also sent out luggage tag save-the-date cards and map-themed invitations.
Alex, his best man, my brother (who was Alex's usher) and our dads all wore the same grey wool suits with sage green ties that suited the relaxed, outdoor environment.
In the evening we had the South Devon Pizza Company bring a pizza van to the venue and it was great to see our loved ones stood around the firepit drinking cider and enjoying the food.
We chose beautiful flower displays to match the venue and outdoor surroundings.
Our bridesmaids wore dusky pink floor-length dresses and held cute posies of gypsophila.
