Rebecca and Adam Fricker met in the age-old way: down the local pub. “A month later, we bumped into each other again at a music event at Butlins in Minehead,” Rebecca tells us. “Two-and-a-half years later, we got engaged!”
It was Christmas Day when Adam decided to pop the question. “I had no idea he was going to do it,” Rebecca says. “It was just the two of us in the morning. Then both our families came around so we could share the exciting news.”
The pair set the date for 5th May, 2018, and chose the picturesque Barn at Cott Farm as the setting. We caught up with Rebecca to find out more…
The venue had a relaxed outdoor vibe, and it worked perfectly with our vision for the day: a happy, cheerful event with colourful pastel touches.
We gave a personal touch to the table plan with Polaroid photos of all of our guests on strings of lights attached to a board of painted wooden slats. The place settings and table names were lovely clay hearts.
The colourful theme was reflected in our handmade table-runners and felt-ball bunting.
I wanted a simple dress with just a touch of detail. I went to Kate Walker Bridal, and she made my gown from scratch.
The men all looked dashing in navy French Connection suits, grey waistcoats and paisley ties for a pop of colour.
The food was great. We kept an informal feel, with breads, cheeses, salad, cold meats and roast potatoes on each table for our loved ones to tuck into. In the evening, we dined on pizza from the venue's outdoor oven.
