Jill and Adam spent their big day surrounded by loved ones

Jill and Adam's story started back in 2013 at a teacher training course at Nottingham Trent University. Jill says, "We first started talking in a science lecture where we argued about who had created the better poster on volcanoes – this debate is still ongoing." The couple bonded over multiple hobbies including music, with Adam introducing Jill to King Blues, a British punk rock band who at the time had split but later on reformed. It was during the performance of Jill's favourite song I Want You that Adam proposed. Jill says, "Adam had worn the ring around his neck all day at work, checking every couple of minutes that it hadn't fallen off the string. As that song began, he placed it around my neck. He didn't say anything or get down on one knee, we just kept dancing!"

The bride's bouquet was simple with yellow and purple flowers that had a wild appearance and for favours, a homemade chilli jam created by the bride's dad was given, which became extremely popular with the guests.

The cake was created by the same company that made the couple's best friends and bridesmaid's wedding cake. Jill says, "When we tried it at Laura's big day, I'd never eaten a tastier cake – it was incredible! We got the chance to try lots of different flavours but settled on chocolate, carrot cake and rum and ginger – I always knew the biggest layer would be chocolate."

She says, "I had initially thought that I wanted a knee-length dress but after trying on a different style with my mum, I knew that it was the right choice."With both her parents being geologists, when it came down to finding jewellery the bride-to-be visited the shop at the British Geological Survey where they worked and chose a lovely necklace with amethyst in.The groomsmen picked their own suit with the only requirement being that it had to be grey in order to complement Adam's grey Ted Baker suit, which he wore with a waistcoat. The bridesmaids wore stunning floor-length dresses in pale pink adorned with embroidered flowers.

Jill says, "They were brilliant and allowed me to take the guitar off them and show off my skills – which are non-existent!"

Feeling initial nerves before the ceremony, Jill was calmed down by her two bridesmaids. She adds, "Just before walking down the aisle,  I saw my dad stood in his kilt. He didn't even wear one for his own wedding, so I was happy he wore one for mine! The rest of the day was easily one of the best days of our lives. Everyone we loved was there and in a great mood and the weather was scorching. People were all dancing, laughing and having the most amazing time."

A part of the day that stood out to the couple was the speech made by the best man, who used a PowerPoint presentation with some hilarious photos of Adam.

My friend Laura and I had, had a few drinks by this point and decided the photos should be of us pretending to be woodland nymphs. My other bridesmaid Alex, who was pregnant and not drinking, has informed us that we looked ridiculous!"

For their honeymoon the couple jetted off to Florence for 10 days. Jill says, "I've always loved Italy and this trip didn't disappoint! We saw the Statue of David, The Birth of Venus and the Leaning Tower of Pisa as well as eating some amazing food. Adam enjoyed the wine!"
