Annalise and Richard met in 2007 at a friend's fancy dress party. “We had a great time and in 2010 we started working together,” says Annalise. “I was running the tills, and Richard was working in the chilled section. He started doing overtime, and I was tasked with showing him the ropes. We clicked and were always making each other laugh.”
Richard popped the question at Ogmore Castle on 5th June, 2016. “We'd had one of our first dates at the castle, so we decided to revisit,” shares the bride. “We sat in the grounds on a beautiful sunny day, and after some time had passed, Richard plucked up the courage to ask me to be his wife. We were both thrilled and couldn't wait to celebrate.”
Here she shares some of her favourite moments from their big day...
Seeing Richard waiting for me at the end of the aisle with a beaming smile was a magical feeling. My mum gave me away because my dad sadly passed away in 2011. She looked glamorous, and we were both very emotional.
Our best friends got married at the Coed-Y-Mwstwr Hotel in 2016, and we had an amazing time at their wedding so much so that we booked the venue for our nuptialsthe very next day.
I created a replica of the iconic hand-printed mailbox from the film and a book full of photos from our relationship.
Richard and I chose a three-tier bake from DeVoli Cakes. It was covered in blue fondant and decorated with clouds, balloons and miniature suitcases. We had a personalised topper with figurines of us and our cat, Peppa, holding colourful balloons and a book.
For the centrepieces, we chose pastel blooms placed in small pots. Each place setting had a balloon attached to it, which created a sea of colour. We also hand-cut confetti and gave it to our guests to throw after the ceremony.
The tables were named after phrases, items and locations from the film Up.
We hired a fantastic DJ, a portable casino, a magic mirror photo booth, a popcorn machine and a delicious sweet cart. The DJ was a massive hit and played a wide selection of music.
My dress was a Madeline Gardner New York design called Clara from Samantha K's. I always wanted something with sleeves and a bit of sparkle. I surprised myself by choosing a princess skirt, which felt like it was made especially for me. I accessorised with a veil, tiara and sentimental pieces of jewellery.
Richard chose a navy suit with a grey tweed waistcoat, blue bow tie and brown shoes from OH Big Man.
The bridesmaids wore Little Mistress chiffon maxi-dresses with bejewelled tops and caped sleeves from Very. The maid-of-honour's gown was grey, while the rest of the party opted for blue versions.
In the evening, we had a pizza bar with six different flavours. We also had a log fire burning away, with marshmallows available in case anyone wanted to relax outside.
The speeches from my stepdad, grandfather and Richard's best man were comical and very emotional.
My maid-of-honour and bridesmaids were fantastic on the day, and both our nephews looked incredibly handsome.
Throughout the night, I was likened to a very happy and tipsy Disney princess! I loved dancing with Richard on the starlight dancefloor with all of our nearest and dearest. One of our friends even burned a hole in his suit trousers from doing some classic knee slides!
We couldn't fault any of our suppliers. They were all amazing and provided an excellent service. I'd recommend them to anyone, especially our photographer, Michelle, who was phenomenal on the day, and all of ourfriends and family loved her.
For our honeymoon, we went to Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. I spent months planning the trip, watched videos, booked dinner reservations and even created a spreadsheet to keep track of our daily activities. Sadly, my nan passed away while we were away. But knowing she wouldn't have wanted us to come home, we tried to make the best of a bad situation. Welearned that if there's one place to forget all your troubles, it's Disney World.
