Pastel hues

Charlotte and Jake decorated their day with pops of pretty pastel colours.

Charlotte and Jake met through Charlotte's sister, Emily, who went to the same school as Jake. “I loved his sense of humour, and he commented on how pretty he thought I was,” Charlotte tells us.

After a fun period of time spent dating, the couple became engaged in January 2019 during a holiday in Las Vegas. “We were on a special trip with my family, celebrating my brother's 21st birthday,” Charlotte says. “Jake had secretly asked the staff at the Bellagio to turn on the fountain displays during his proposal. It was a magical moment at the end of our holiday, and we flew home first class to top off the incredible experience!”

Here Charlotte tells us more about their special day, decorated with a pastel colour scheme.

We loved the rope swing in the grounds. A memorable moment for me was when Jake was trying to push me on it in my big dress!

Our table plan was a large mirror decorated with fresh flowers with guests' names painted on, and our favours were cocktail shots for the guests.

Pastel hues: Image 3 We loved the fact that Melksham Court has a licence for outdoor civil ceremonies and could seat all of our loved ones around the garden temple.

Pastel hues: Image 4 Our centrepieces were flowers in small coffee pots and little lanterns. These complemented the place names, which were corks from vintage wine bottles with the name cards slotted in the top, and the table names, which were significant numbers to us as a couple with an explanation under each one.

Our flowers were a mix of peonies, delphiniums, gerberas and hydrangeas, to name just a few! We mixed lots of varieties, and it worked so well.

We had single-stem flowers suspended from ribbons decorating the ceiling in the temple. They looked stunning and created a fabulous backdrop for our photos.

Pastel hues: Image 6 We made the most of having an outdoor wedding by covering the trees with heart-shaped decorations. We also had hand-sewn bunting, lanterns and a string of photographs documenting our relationship.

Our cake was made by my sister, Emily, and was a masterpiece! It was a five-tier design decorated with flowers, handmade by my mum. The different flavours were vanilla, lemon and chocolate with a carrot cake and a fruitcake. It was a real family effort!

Added extras at our wedding were a memory ladder, sofas and a pimp my gin station!

Pastel hues: Image 8 Jake wore a three-piece navy suit with a pastel pink floral tie. His groomsmen wore the same suit as him, minus the jacket, with matching waistcoats, shirts and ties.

I loved my Malena dress by Pronovias, which really flattered my figure. The satin material accentuated my waist. It had buttons all the way down the back, and it also featured pockets, which came in very handy!

Our bridesmaids wore pale pink floor-length dresses that nipped in at the waist and had pearl detail down one side. They also had similar detail on their shoes.

Pastel hues: Image 10 We entertained our guests with a string quartet playing as they arrived and during the champagne reception. We had a band, West End Jerseys, play during the evening because Jersey Boys is Jake's favourite film. They showcased a mix of their famous tracks and some covers, plus they let Jake sing Sherry! No one could resist getting up to dance.
