British Heart Foundation calls on crafters to join The Big Stitch: Image 1 The British Heart Foundation (BHF) is calling on shoppers to support its research by taking part in The Big Stitch 2019. The month-long campaign, which launches on 1st July, will encourage shoppers to visit their local BHF shop, buy an item and upcycle it to be in with a chance of winning a prize.

With 550 shops across the UK, the BHF's stores are full of exciting finds just waiting to be discovered, and shoppers can showcase their sewing skills and individual style.

To enter, crafters can upload their before and after images by tagging the BHF on Twitter, Instagram or the charity's Facebook page using #TheBigStitch hashtag. All tagged entries will be uploaded onto the charity's photo wall and entered into the competition.

“I always look forward to seeing our shoppers injecting their own personal style into the items people kindly donate to us,” says Debbie Dixon, retail regional director at BHF. “It amazes me how easily a simple piece can be turned into something exceptional with some basic sewing and craft skills. The Big Stitch offers shoppers the opportunity to showcase their creativity and is a sustainable solution for updating your wardrobe. By taking part it means we can continue to raise vital funds for research, which could transform the lives of the 7.4 million people in the UK living with heart and circulatory disease.”

The competition will run from 1st – 31st July, with the winner selected in the week commencing 12th August. For details, go to www.bhf.org.uk/TheBigStitch
