The name's Wilks, Mr & Mrs Wilks

Jemma and Jack met on Tinder. As Jemma recalls, "We wish we could give a more romantic story, but a modern-day Tinder romance it is.

I was actually sat with one of my close friends having a coffee and she was looking through the app on my phone and found Jack – Jack is actually her cousin!

Happy Couple So, she swiped right, it was a match. The rest is history." Jemma and Jack married on 17th June, 2022 at Wharfedale Grange.

Here, Jemma tells us more about their day...

Ceremony room It's impossible to walk into Wharfedale's ceremony room and not fall in love. It helps that the rest of the venue is absolutely beautiful too! We also adored the farmhouse on site!

Dress

I wore Pebbles by Enzoani in ivory, which I got from Ava Rose Hamilton in Silsden. They were absolutely brilliant and I couldn't recommend that boutique enough!

Veil

I also got my veil from Ava Rose which was the same material as my train so they look like they just melt into each other, I loved it!

Seamstress

My wonderful seamstress did an amazing job. She had a lot of work to do as I lost two stone from buying my dress to the wedding day. My dress fit like an absolute glove I couldn't have asked for more!

Bouquet

My bouquet was mainly foliage with a mix of eucalyptus, aspidistra ferns, scabiosa and peach roses.

Groom

Jack wore a Remus Uomo dinner suit from Frank Bird. Jack's suit was a brighter blue than the groomsmen and he didn't wear a waistcoat.

His shirt, bow tie and braces were from Turnbull and Asser - all replicas of those supplied to Daniel Craig in Casino Royale.

Car

I got ready at the venue but I surprised Jack with his absolute dream, a silver Aston Martin DB5 so he really could be James Bond for the day. Jack didn't know about this till he walked out of the hotel on the morning of the wedding to come to the venue.

Ceremony From the moment the ceremony doors opened and I saw Jack I didn't stop smiling like a Cheshire cat till about a week later – my cheeks were so sore but honestly, I couldn't have asked for a more amazing day.

Vows

For me, Jack's vows made my day so special, we had chosen to write our own vows. I am a huge Disney fan and Jack must have spent so much time on the vows because they featured lines from all of my favourite Disney songs! It was so funny and special to hear, it really meant so much to me that he'd gone to so much effort.

Table setting

Each table was named after one of our favourite James Bond films.

Each film had a corresponding sugar biscuit which represented the film for our favours.

Centrepieces

The centrepieces were mainly silver tall candelabras with foliage and gypsophelia wrapped around the stem and each candelabra either had white or dusty blue candles. We also had lovely white and silver 'Mr and Mrs' signs on the ends of the tables.

Cake

We let our cakemaker get creative and ended up with a gorgeous white cake with silver foil around the edges with so many lemons on it! Our wedding food and drinks had an Italian theme so this cake with the lemons on it tied in perfectly.

Kiss We must thank our dream team at Wharfedale Grange. A more organised team you will never meet. They made our wedding day an absolute dream.

Pianist

Jack's friend from childhood Ben is a pianist and he played for our ceremony. He played so beautifully and everyone commented on what a lovely job he did!

Casino

We had casino tables for after the wedding breakfast till the first dance, this included blackjack and roulette. These went down an absolute storm with our guests!

First Dance

Our first dance was choregraphed - a medley of James Bond theme songs!

Given we're both quite shy people, no one expected a full choregraphed dance from us and our guests loved it!

Fur Babies

Wharfedale Grange is completely pet-friendly so it meant we got to have our fur babies at our wedding day! It was so special getting to see them there, have so many photos with them and know they were in such capable hands with the dog chaperones we hired.

Final dance The Wilks's top tip!

Have a private final dance. It means you spend the last ebbs of the night together as man and wife, after what's the most amazing, busy, hectic, emotional day.
