Lucy and Adam met at a New Year's Eve party of a joint friend, "I was eating a stolen pot of Pringles and Adam asked if the seat next to me was taken and the rest is history!" recalls Lucy.
"It definitely wasn't his thick silver chain or his fresh shaven hair that attracted me to him, it was the way he made me laugh constantly and that he was so caring and thoughtful. Adam would say I'm funny, I always have him in stitches (I'd also say I'm very funny!). He also loves my eyes, so maybe that too!"
Fast-forward to the day of the proposal, 19th of October, the day before Lucy's birthday at The Ned in London. "We were in the room getting ready to go down for dinner and all of a sudden I turned round and Adam is on one knee, but shouts 'no I'm not ready!' so I have to look away again! At this point he's dropped the ring and panicked! I thought to myself 'only Adam'. We was both very emotional, it was so special. The next day we came home to my parents' house to a surprise party with our closest family – it was so lovely!"
The big day was set 29th October 2021, with Braxted Park in Witham, Essex providing the ultimate backdrop. Here we find out more about their day...
High on the wedding planning agenda is finding the venue, and Lucy and Adam fell in love with Braxted Park. "The driveway is stunning as soon as you enter the grounds," shares Lucy. "The venue is honestly incredible and has the most amazing black and white dance area. My dad is in a band called Souled Out and we had always said we wanted his band there; we knew that we could have the full band in there on the amazing stage they have."
It wasn't just the reception setting the couple had in mind, they also felt the ceremony room was just as breathtaking, just enough quirky to complement the pair.
For the finer details of the day, the couple opted for a black and gold colour scheme and the following finishing touches: their favours were drink tokens made by Wedding Lux, as well as personalised biscuits made by Georgia's Cakes. Each table was named after songs that meant something to the newlyweds and their families, and it was displayed in a gold frame supplied by Party Squared.
For the centrepieces, gold jars were filled with the couple's favourite flowers and were surrounded by gold candles and small white and gold pumpkins.
For the big-day bake, the couple chose an amazing, white and gold-toned creation by White Blossom Bakes.
Lucy had a clear vision for her wedding day, and wore a Suzanne Neville Halo gown. “The most special thing about my dress is that it is exclusive to the London boutique and I was the second bride to wear it!” adds Lucy. “I accessorised it with the most amazing silver Christian Louboutins.”
Adam looked dapper in a black tux from Anthony's Formalwear which he wore with a white shirt and bow tie while his groomsmen all wore black shirts to stand out. Adam too, finished off his look with a patent pair of Christian Louboutins.
Providing the perfect supporting ensemble, the bridemaids wore gorgeous black Jarlo dresses with black fur capes fitting for the time of year.
"For our ceremony we had pianist Brian Edery as we walked down the aisle, our song choice was to It's All About You by McFly," shares Lucy. "In the evening we had my dad's band Souled Out. They are incredible – not being biased – they had everyone on the dancefloor all night and everyone told me how much they made the wedding. We also had a saxophonist for the evening too which went down a treat with our younger guests."
On the day, naturally Lucy was overwhelmed, "That every single person was there for us, and to celebrate us, was such an amazing but emotional feeling," shares Lucy. "The day flew by so fast and I miss it so much! I would absolutely love to do it all again."
Standout moments for the pair included the speeches, they were emotional, funny and touching. The couple also had a toastmaster who was absolutely brilliant and made everyone laugh.
Lucy adds, "My bridesmaids went above and beyond to help me with anything I needed for the day! And they absolutely smashed my hen do. They are such beautiful kind and caring girls and they really did everything for me – I'm so thankful for them. Also our parents, we're so lucky to have them!"
