New for 2025, the five-star hotel, part of YTL Hotels, has launched self-drive river boating; its own premium gin made from ingredients grown on the island; screen-free Yoto audio players for families as well as a new biodiversity-boosting wildflower meadow and beehives.
As well as these exciting new additions, guests can also look forward to the island's existing signature experiences, including rejuvenating treatments on the bespoke Floating Spa barge; the Shepherd's Hut Hideaway and seasonal and locally sourced produce at The Monkey Brasserie.
River boats – Monkey Island Estate is delighted to introduce new private self-drive river boats, available for both hotel and external guests to set sail on the Thames. Suitable for groups of up to six people (including children), visitors will have the chance to relax and enjoy quality time with loved ones as they explore the natural beauty of the surrounding countryside and riverway at their own pace. The bespoke boating experience can be elevated with the option to have a continental breakfast, afternoon tea or cheese and wine onboard for an additional cost. Boat hire costs £100 per hour and £70 for each additional hour.
YTL Gin – Monkey Island Estate has launched a bespoke small batch of its own-branded gin, embodying sophistication and nature for a truly refined and complex tasting experience. Inspired by the legendary Monkey Island itself, the new premium gin is made using a harmonious blend of botanicals, including honey from the hotel's hives, fragrant notes of lavender, rose petals, wild blackcurrant leaves and bold citrus peel. There are also hints of meadow flowers and herbs, the warmth of juniper and subtle caramel notes for a delicate, well-balanced aftertaste. Guests can sample the new tipple for an al fresco aperitif on the terrace, at the Monkey Bar (£12 for 50ml) or buy a bottle (£55) to take home as a memento of their stay.
Yoto audio players – In the estate's three charming period residences, Monkey Island has partnered with Yoto, to offer children access to screen-free players offering an enchanting world of stories, songs and activities for the duration of their stays. The exclusive residences offer families the ideal combination of space and privacy whilst still taking advantage of the hotel's luxury five-star services. The new Yoto partnership, suitable for children of all ages, is an exciting enhancement of the family-friendly offering.
Beekeeping experience – Amongst the perfectly manicured gardens of the estate, guests will have the chance to visit Monkey Island's very own beehives and learn all about the artisan practice of beekeeping and harvesting honey in this 90-minute experience with the hotel's resident beekeeper, Sergio. Priced from £240 for two people with bookings available upon request.
Shepherd's hut hideaway – Tucked away in the estate's beautiful country gardens with stunning views over the River Thames, Monkey Island Estate's Shepherd's Hideaway is stylishly furnished with contemporary countryside interiors. It transforms from a cosy winter cabin into a rustic summer suntrap to welcome groups of up to six people. Guests can look forward to a bottle of chilled champagne on arrival, an afternoon of croquet and lawn games with additional gourmet options on request. Priced from £250 and available for both external visitors as well as hotel guests to book for private use between 3 pm and 10 pm.
Accessed only by footbridge, Monkey Island Estate offers a secluded countryside escape, conveniently located less than an hour's drive from Central London and now easily reached via the Elizabeth Line. The addition of these exciting new experiences for summer 2025 offers visitors of all ages and tastes even more reason to enjoy the ultimate day in the British countryside with family and friends in stylish yet laidback luxury. Rates start from £275 per night in a Temple Room.
