Hylands Estate is a unique, award winning, Grade II* listed mansion house with contemporary Grand Pavilion, set in acres of glorious parkland. The perfect setting to host your wedding.

Hylands House boasts lavish interiors, set to stun your guests together with breath-taking views of the Essex countryside. Whilst the Grand Pavilion provides the perfect blank canvas for your reception. The venue is filled with endless photo opportunities both inside the restored mansion house as well as the picturesque Pleasure Gardens.

Host your ceremony for up to 100 guests within the ornate ceremony rooms of Hylands House and up to 300 guests for your seated meal and reception inside the Grand Pavilion. You also have the option to host a religious ceremony for up to 300 guests within the Grand Pavilion.

Hylands Estate offers venue-only hire, providing you with celebration spaces and internal furniture. We have done the hard-work for you and curated a list of accredited caterers for your to choose from. You then have the flexibility to choose your own suppliers, including decorators and entertainment, to create a truly bespoke wedding.

From your initial enquiry a member of the Events and Weddings team will be at your disposal right up until your wedding day. You will meet your dedicated Events Duty Manager ahead of the day, who will be with you every step of the way. Our team will be on hand to welcome your guests, monitor the venue and assist with all the coordination on the day.

Hylands House is a grade II* listed Neo-Classical elegant villa with meticulously restored period rooms from both Georgian and Victorian eras. Originally built as a modest red brick Queen Anne style home in 1730 by local MP Sir John Comyns, the house and parkland were redesigned by famous landscape designer and architect Humphry Repton. Hylands House was rescued from ruin by Chelmsford City Council and restoration was completed in 2007. Steeped in history and set amongst beautiful surroundings Hylands House is a fascinating place to explore.

Take a stroll into the Pleasure Gardens filled with seasonal flowers, including our famous wisteria, roses and lily pond. Our new outdoor wedding ceremony garden gives couples the chance to say their vows under the graceful tree canopy of the estate’s woodland. The area includes a bespoke oak structure for couples and wooden seating in keeping with the woodland theme.

The Drawing Room is a remarkable space with its gilded ceiling and stunning marble fireplace. Our beautifully refurbished wedding suites create a unique link to the estate’s gardens with a horticultural theme. The Grand Pavilion offers a stylish celebration space with sparkling chandeliers and ivory drapes. We have transformed our wedding suite into luxurious spaces with tailor-made touches.
