A canvas of calm

The beauty of travelling to Mallorca begins with the quick-and-easy 2.5- hour flight. Even in late-October, sunshine embraced me the moment I stepped off the plane – 26 degrees of bliss. My short transfer from the airport was arranged through the hotel's concierge, escorting me safely to the boutique resort located in Santa Ponça. The hotel's signature scent, lighting and soothing colour palette worked in harmony to set the tone of the stay – serene and tranquil. Kimpton allows you to discover the artistic soul of Mallorca. The walls are lined with beautiful artwork, some of which are available to buy. With just 79 rooms, the boutique hotel feels intimate. From my balcony, framed by floor-to-ceiling windows, my view overlooked the lush gardens and pool. I loved discovering secluded hideaways, a hammock for two here, a tucked-away daybed there – perfect for those quiet moments shared with your love.

A room with a London view

This Grade II listed building was opened in 1922 by King George V and Queen Mary as the headquarters of the local government in London, meaning the building and its woo- panelled chambers have been witness to many secret whispers over the years. Superbly positioned along London's dynamic and creative South Bank, London Marriott Hotel County Hall provides guests with iconic river views of the city's finest landmarks including the London Eye, Big Ben and Houses of Parliament. Just a short walk from Covent Garden and Soho, it's ideal for catching a West End show or exploring London's lively nightlife.

Love in the Caribbean

Being in this industry means I'm lucky enough to visit incredible locations – it's an opportunity I'll never take for granted. So, I felt very fortunate when the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority team reached out about a trip to East Winds Resort on the northwest coast. Before I knew it, my partner and I were boarding a flight for our eight-hour journey to the beautiful island. Oh, and did I mention it's right on the beach? After landing and breezing through immigration, we drove 90 minutes from Hewanorra International Airport to the Resort, giving us the perfect chance to soak in the island's vibrant spirit. From lush greenery and palm trees at every turn, to bursts of colour throughout the towns and the warm, welcoming locals, it was clear from the start that this island had captured our hearts. From winding through a rainforest to cruising by the coast, every moment was an experience!

Phun times in Phuket

A twin-centre trip to Thailand's capital and its largest island ticks every box fortravel editor Richard Jones. The views of Bangkok's neon-drenched skyscrapers were a distant memory amidst the swaying tropical palm trees. And instead of roaring motorcycle engines and car horns ringing in my ears, my senses were soothed by the Andaman Sea's gently lapping waves. "It's just more relaxed here," explained tour guide Teddy, as we travelled along the crescent-shaped Patong Beach in Phuket. "We call it the island life. "The serene tropical paradise felt like a world away from bustling Bangkok where I had spent the last three days. That's not to say I hadn't had a blast in the Thai capital, but by combining the two very different destinations, you can end up with a memorable twin-centre post-wedding getaway.

For many, visiting the Maldives is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, so you need to make sure you are getting the most from your honeymoon. It can feel overwhelming trying to work out what accommodation is worth booking and equally as exhausting organising the itinerary. AVA Moment in Mexico

It's one of my favourite holiday moments – when I first pull back the curtains or drapes, slide the glass doors open and admire the view from the balcony. On this occasion, the vista from the eighth floor of AVA Resort Cancun was unlike anything I've seen before. The pool was colossal, and while bathers were attempting to stay cool in its baby blue waters; on its shores, flamingo pink-shirted servers weaved in between the sun beds and cabanas carrying trays of frozen drinks and hot snacks.

The honeymoon is a highly anticipated holiday and the often-questioned next step for any newlywed, and with this comes a lot of pressure to get it right. But who's to say a two-week long tour of Scotland's most prestigious castles, staying in the best rooms possible, isn't as good as the Maldives? It's all about who you're with, as opposed to where you go. However, since coming out of lockdown and the world returning to business as usual, there has been a rise in abroad honeymoons, more specifically to destinations far from bustling civilisations.

If it's good enough for Shakespeare... editor Danielle Harvey travels to Stratford-Upon-Avon to stay at the delightful Billesley Manor. Approaching via the gated driveaway, the historic Billesley Manor stands proud in the background on the edge of a manicured lawn with feature water fountain, forcing its arriving guests to pause at this sight to behold. Offering the picture-perfect property for an idyllic getaway, my husband and I were eager to explore this 16th-century country manor house and its 11-acres of grounds – the epitome of romantic luxury.

The Cambridge Belfry Hotel & Spa, part of The QHotels Collection, was designed for you to relax and recharge. The location is ideal: just a seven-mile drive outside of Cambridge's lively city centre. That's if you want to leave the comfort of your calm, lakeside location – I didn't! Enjoying the escapism, I indulged in a self-care day. After checking in, I donned my robe and sat down to a chilled glass of the most perfect prosecco and a beautifully dressed, fresh pea shoot salad followed by a bowl of juicy melon and blueberries.

The Caribbean of Europe

Following the joys, stresses and excitement of wedding planning, when it comes to your honeymoon, it's time to breathe deeply and slow down. Capo d'Orso, one of the properties in the family-run Delphina Hotels & Resorts portfolio, is the ideal place to get in touch with nature and get to know your wedded partner all over again. It truly is a couple's paradise, where privacy is paramount. Even during peak season, the hotel has so many intimate spots, hidden hammocks and secluded nooks for you to sunbathe and read a book or simply enjoy a glass of wine gazing out to sea, you'll never feel overlooked. The hotel is nestled beautifully into its surroundings. Expect abundant indigenous plants, ancient olive and juniper trees and winding footpaths that have been blended into the landscape. The hotel has access to two beaches that can be reached by foot, Cala Selvaggia and Cala Capra. And if you'd rather relax poolside, enjoy the saltwater pool or book in at the spa. I, however, was drawn to the wooden solariums set just on the seashore, of which there are five to choose from. These sunbathing decks, float on the sea, allowing you to listen to the lapping ocean beneath from the comfort of your sun lounger. Bliss.

A romantic escape - in Portugal

Bathed by the Atlantic Ocean, Cascais in Portugal offers the best of everything: beaches, attracting lovers of vitamin D and surfers alike; the enchanting streets of the historic centre; delicious restaurants and golf courses for athletes and amateurs; this diverse town would make an unforgettable honeymoon destination. The mild climate and breathtaking views of Portugal continue to attract people from all over the world, all year round. Just over 30 minutes by train from Libson, Cascais is close enough to feel like you're getting away from the hustle and bustle, but not so far that you feel removed from a European capital. Besides its coastal beauty, the imposing presence of the Sintra Mountains, which rise as one of the green and natural highlights of the town, is a picturesque setting that couples will spend hours admiring.

Editor, Rachel Westall, experienced the beautiful and stylish five-star Ajul Luxury Hotel & SpaResort in Halkidiki. Just a short three-hour flight from London and you arrive to the famous, turquoise waters of Halkidiki. Who needs a long-haul flight when this beauty is so close to home? A private taxi, all arranged through the attentive staff at Ajul Resort, collected me from the airport. As we turned off to the entrance of the resort I was blown away. We were transported to a world of our own, through pine forests, off the beaten track down to the extremely modern and stylish resort entrance. A grand chandelier takes centre stage as well as plenty of armchairs and cocooning egg chairs to welcome you.

A Local Retreat

If you're looking for an accessible UK minimoon – the DoubleTree by Hilton Oxford Belfry should be high on your list. Located just a hop, skip and a jump from the M40, the hotel is located in 17 acres of landscaped gardens and is in easy reach of romantic attractions such as Oxford centre – I highly recommend taking a honeymoon punt along the river! – and the beautiful Blenheim Palace, where you can while away hours learning about the history of the iconic house.

With Love From Crete

Nestled on the east coast of the island with two private Blue Flag-awarded sandy beaches is this charming five-star resort that's reached by flying directly to Heraklion International Airport. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with unbeatable panoramic views spanning the Cretan Sea and the hillsides of the Lassithi region. This resort is perfect for honeymooners wanting to get away from it all. Open from mid-April until the end of October, the luxurious yet laid-back vibe welcomes you the moment you enter.

Ibiza rocks

Nestled on the east coast of the island in the third largest town sits this eco-conscious, five-star resort that's reached by flying directly to Ibiza airport. From the moment I arrived, the chilled, laid-back vibe in this sustainably chic, design-led setting welcomed me. Aguas de Ibiza Grand Luxe Hotel has been awarded one of the best hotels in Ibiza for its efforts to reduce its carbon footprint using innovative technology such as smart building automation, solar panels and charging stations for electric vehicles. There's also a bike rental service available from the hotel, a great way to discover this historic port town.

Located on a mile-long stretch of beach on Saint Lucia's exotic south coast, independently owned and run resort Coconut Bay is an icon of this heavenly island. Offering a unique choice of two worlds in one thanks to its adults-only wing, Harmony, and Splash, the resort's destination for family fun, there's never a dull moment. Kelly Andrews spent a few glorious days at the resort, a haven for honeymooners visiting St Lucia.

Captivating Calabria

In the 1970s, a young Swiss woman visiting Calabria fell in love, not only with her future husband but also the captivating countryside he called home. Together they established a trio of hotels around historic Tropea designed to reflect Calabria's unique landscape and culture. From the romantic sophistication of Villa Paola to Capovaticano's hedonistic charms and the family friendly Baia del Sole Resort, these hotels are sure to sweep you off your feet.

Night has fallen when my taxi arrives outside Villa Paola. The first thing I notice, apart from the intoxicating scent of jasmine, is a Romanesque church complete with belltower. I'm wondering where the entrance to the hotel might be when a door beside the church opens. Ricardo, the hotel's sharp suited manager, welcomes me into a cloister while explaining this was once a monastery built during the sixteenth century to honour St Francis, Calabria's patron saint.

Those monks certainly chose a sensational location. Invited to enjoy a welcome cocktail on the terrace, I'm bewitched by a full moon casting a cone of light across the inky Tyrrhenian Sea. Along the coastline twinkling lamps illuminate the marina and the village of Tropea clinging to the clifftop. It looks heavenly and I see why it's known as the Costa degli Dei (Coast of the Gods).

Sweet escapes

From shepherd's huts to flint stone cottages, farm stays to hillside wonders, there's something for everyone in this round up of cosy places just for two. Consisting of five luxury sustainable treehouses located in a woodland area on the banks of the River Teith in Perthshire, this secluded outpost creates an authentic Scottish wilderness experience

Melissa Cullen visits Dunston Hall Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort. In the days leading up to Christmas, I had the pleasure of being invited to stay at the magical Dunston Hall Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort. Located just outside of Norwich, Norfolk, the impressive 18th-century building and surrounding 150 acres of grounds encompass multiple restaurants, a spa and a golf course. My husband, David, and I were excited to explore the area and see what made this hotel such a popular gem.

The Italian dream

CWM deputy managing editor Kelly Andrews spent two nights living la dolce vita at Villa La Massa in the breathtaking Tuscan countryside. Built in the 13th century as an enchanting country house for an aristocratic Florentine family, Villa La Massa was owned by European nobility until 1948, when it was transformed into a luxury hotel. After a complete renovation, it reopened and its 100-year-old history lives on with every nook telling tales of Renaissance splendour and the lifestyle of Florentine high society. It's here that I spent two memorable nights in October, ready to discover what Tuscany and its crown jewel, Florence, have to offer honeymooners.

Picturesque Parga

Editor Claire Ridley jetted to Parga Beach Resort in this popular coastal town located on the north-west coast of Greece: Two beachside restaurants command prime position on the sand with a third, KOKONA set to open this summer. At Thálassa, an open-plan, seaside-chic restaurant, the delicious buffet breakfast can be enjoyed by the water's edge. Authentic Greek dishes for lunch and dinner include marinated anchovies, grilled sardines, moussaka and feta-filled salad.
