A room with a London view

london skyline

This Grade II listed building was opened in 1922 by King George V and Queen Mary as the headquarters of the local government in London, meaning the building and its woo- panelled chambers have been witness to many secret whispers over the years. Superbly positioned along London's dynamic and creative South Bank, London Marriott Hotel County Hall provides guests with iconic river views of the city's finest landmarks including the London Eye, Big Ben and Houses of Parliament. Just a short walk from Covent Garden and Soho, it's ideal for catching a West End show or exploring London's lively nightlife.
Fresh from a 2024 renovation, the property blends timeless tradition with a splash of modern quirk. Look out for pocket watch print curtains, bowler hat artwork, and wallpaper that moonlights as a map of London. The balcony rooms are extra special, why bother setting your alarm when you can wake up to London's famous timekeeper chiming from the plush comfort of your bed.

GILLRAY'S STEAKHOUSE
Prime cuts, crafted cocktails, and the city's most enviable address. Gillray's Steakhouse is named after James Gillray, the 20th-century English master caricaturist who was often considered one of the founders of modern political cartooning. Browsing the menu, of course, you'll see a mouthwatering selection of prime cuts such as rump cap, sirloin, côte de boeuf, T-bone and even a 1kg longhorn ribeye. If it's seafood you're after, I'd recommend the grilled lobster (half or whole) and pan-fried Dover sole with lemon & caper butter, delicious. Quintessential British classics are also on offer, from a hearty burger to a comforting portion of fish & chips.
If you enjoy sipping a cocktail or two, every month, Gillray's bar is proud to introduce a gin of the month. With a selection of more than 100 different varieties, options vary from local produce from a nearby London distillery, to gins all the way from the glaciers of Iceland. Every gin has its own story to tell - just ask the knowledgeable mixologist!

DIVE IN
Few things elevate a stay like a hotel where you can dive into a pool and stay active in a top-notch fitness centre. Spread across two floors at the top of one of London's historic landmarks, the fitness centre in London Marriott Hotel County Hall possesses a 25-metre indoor swimming pool and a gym, open 24/7, with the latest premium equipment. Of course, I tested the facilities – a much-appreciated haven from the bustling streets of London.
