Blackfriars Priory is a stunning medieval scheduled monument in the heart of the Dockside City of Gloucester. Due to its prime location, the 13th century former mansion is easily accessible by road, rail and foot, while the City’s hotels are all well within walking distance.
The site is a hidden gem, which boasts original 13th century scissor braced beams across two licenced ranges, a fully glazed wall in the North Range overlooking our ancient ruin and one of the oldest standing purpose built libraries in Europe. With a fully enclosed private cloister garden, the hustle and bustle of everyday life feels a million miles away. The tranquil garden and ancient buildings wrap you in an historic idyll – it is the perfect place to make lasting magical memories.

Up to 230 people can be accommodated for a ceremony or evening function in this space and up to 150 people can be seated for dining.

The Upper East Range is our most intimate space, ideal for small ceremonies of up to 60 guests or up to 50 seated for dining. The room features a stunning scissor-braced roof, rare detailing in the stonework in the downstairs fireplace and the remains of a 16th century clay oven.

Dressed with fairy lights at no additional cost, the East Range is a unique and atmosphere space, perfect for couples seeking an intimate wedding with their closest friends and family.

To add an extra special touch, our team can work with to arrange drinks in the grounds after your ceremony to help get the celebration underway. Our drinks packages are designed to suit all your needs, whether it's Pimms in the sunshine you're after or bubbly on arrival, we can cater for you.
