One of the UK's most popular independent hotel groups will help guests with their travel fuel costs, as rising global prices continue to impact the holiday market.
Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, which operates the four-star Compleat Angler in Marlow, Buckinghamshire (pictured) as well as hotels in Wales and Hampshire and Dorset will offer guests up to £25 towards fuel to support the cost of travelling by car to its destinations.
The initiative is thought to be one of the largest of its kind in Britain, with 29 destinations set to benefit from the scheme. Fuel prices in the UK have surged significantly since the start of the year, driven by geopolitical uncertainty, with the cost of filling a family car rising by approximately £14 for petrol and over £26 for diesel.Increasing travel costs for overseas holidays, alongside ongoing global instability, are expected to further strengthen demand for staycations.
Guests booking two or more nights at The Compleat Angler will be eligible to receive up to £25 towards fuel. In addition to the fuel contribution, guests at hotel destinations will also receive an extra £25 voucher redeemable for food and drink at the hotel destination, delivering an additional cost-of-living benefit for travellers.
Hugh Gillies, chief executive officer at Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, said: "Once again, we are seeing significant volatility in the global energy market, which continues to place pressure on household budgets across the UK. By helping to offset the cost of travel, we are making it easier for guests to enjoy high-quality breaks closer to home without the added financial strain of rising fuel prices. This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting our guests and ensuring that a staycation remains an accessible and attractive option, even in uncertain economic times."
The initiative is now live and is available exclusively on bookings made directly via the website. Guests will receive a unique QR code within 14 days of their visit that gives access to their fuel credit. As part of the campaign, Macdonald Hotels & Resorts is also launching a competition to give one lucky winner the chance to win a free overnight stay at selected properties, as well as £250 towards their fuel.
