BORGO MONCHIERO HERITAGE By Atmosphere, a beautifully-restored 18th century monastery in the Langhe hills of Italy’s scenic Piedmont region, is Atmosphere Core's first property in Europe. The Borgo is just minutes from the medieval wine villages of Barolo, La Morra, and Monforte d’Alba, and European Best Destinations just named Langhe–Roero–Monferrato as the second best wine region in Europe for 2027.
The property features 25 rooms and suites split across a historic Monastery and Villa. The Monastery's former cells have been transformed into elegant spaces retaining original materials and historical details, while the Villa offers a more residential, aristocratic feel. Completing the offering is the Prior's Room, a spacious residence with connecting rooms, ideal for families or small groups.
Heritage Hosts provide guests with highly personalised services throughout their stay. For immersion in the region's culinary traditions, seasonal cooking classes within the historic setting of the monastery's restored kitchen and intimate wine tastings led by the property's expert sommelier await guests, whilst experiences in the surrounding region including art itineraries, nature walks, vintage car or Vespa tours, truffle hunting, and excursions from the Ligurian coast to the Piedmont mountains allow for further connection with local culture and nature. Fine dining restaurant EIRA is led by Executive Chef Giorgio Servetto. He previously cooked at Ristorante Nove (Michelin star 2021) and Vignamare (Michelin star 2024), curating a menu rooted in Piedmontese tradition with French and Ligurian influences. Guests can also relish in countryside dining with panoramic views of the Langhe hills at terrace restaurant WILLOW, sip local wines at OLO Bar, or enjoy light poolside dining at EVA.
During the 20th century, the hills surrounding Borgo Monchiero inspired the work of a refined circle of artists, and the borgo itself attracted a circle of notable artists including Eso Peluzzi and Claudio Bonichi. This legacy lives on in the artworks that line the property's interiors and pathways. At the heart of this heritage is the deconsecrated chapel alongside the residence and atelier of Eso Peluzzi, both open to visitors by appointment. The Santuario della Madonna del Rosario, the spiritual heart of the complex dating back to 1752, offers a charming and intimate setting for religious ceremonies, while the chapel is ideal for wedding ceremonies and intimate gatherings.
