Your Yorkshire Wedding - November/December 2020 (Issue 45)

 Claire the venue owner recommended York-based Hog & Apple for our catering. We were sold based solely on their sharing starter platters! The canapé selection was also out of this world; we received a lot of compliments on the food. Matt and his groomsmen looked handsome in three-piece black tuxes. I had six bridesmaids who were all different ages and sizes so I didn’t want to dress them identically. I gave them a colour scheme and let them pick their own dresses – the result was gorgeous! When I found my dress, it didn’t look spectacular on the hanger, but when I had it on it was the clean silhouette, neckline and modern style I had been searching for – I cried! I teamed it with a cathedral-length veil, which my nana embellished with sequins and beads. My something old and something blue was my mum’s sapphire engagement ring, she passed away when I was ten. Singer-songwriter Phil Richards played at the ceremony and for the canapé hour. I only caught five minutes of his performance as we were having our photos taken, so I’d love to hire him again for a big birthday. In the evening, our friend and DJ extraordinaire Angel Lee provided the music. There was also a photo booth and beer pong on the mezzanine. REAL WEDDINGS 29
