Your South West Wedding - June/July 2026 (Issue 113)

As midnight passed, one special New Year’s Eve, Gary got down on one knee and proposed to Victoria with fireworks illuminating the night sky above. Happily, she said, “Yes”, and the couple set about planning their big day in the new year. Victoria and Gary fell in love with the Caroline Suite at Stonehouse Court Hotel in Gloucestershire. “We loved the beautiful Cotswold country hotel setting next to a scenic canal,” Victoria explains. “The Caroline Suite had its own large, private garden for games, drinks and guests to use.” Meanwhile, the church was on the doorstep, which meant the couple were able to hold their ceremony before jumping onto a canal boat – where they were met with cocktails – for a short ride together. Guests strolled back and began playing games on the lawn, including coconut shy and giant Connect 4, while enjoying reception drinks and preparing to meet the newlyweds on their arrival. There was also a guitarist to keep them entertained, who was a big hit. Opting for a mid-olive green and white palette, the pair hired a large canopy blossom tree for the top table, with further tall blossom trees placed on each reception table. “This maintained a simple yet stunning blossom theme in the main room, before we moved the disco beneath the canopy tree with uplighting for maximum effect in the evening,” Victoria tells us. The flowers were all designed in the wedding palette, with the bridal bouquet in a tumbling teardrop effect. Olive green sashes adorned the Chiavari chairs, and personalised biscuits were gifted to each guest as wedding favours, iced in white and olive green. Even the signage was designed to match the elegant colour palette. 24
