Your North West Wedding - Feb/Mar 2020 (Issue 60)

A friend of ours made our delicious cake. We had to transport it in four separate boxes from Middlesbrough. On the day, the wonderful caterers at Cote How Lake District Weddings assembled and decorated it for us. We love the Lake District and try to visit as much as possible with our cockapoo, Cali. Being avid walkers, we’re in the process of trying to complete all 214 Wainwrights – these are fells walked by Alfred Wainwright that stretch around the whole of the Lake District. We stumbled across Cote How Lake District Weddings while on a hike with some friends. It was tucked away from view, and we instantly fell in love with its lush green lawns, tidy gravel drive and smart white façade. The venue is located between Ambleside and Grasmere, which are two of our favourite places. For our favours, we purchased gingerbread parcels wrapped in jute with hand-written name tags from Grasmere Gingerbread. Our big-day blooms were from Made In Flowers in Kendal. We wanted to incorporate wildflowers grown locally in the Lake District. We also had milk churns, crates and walking boots that we used as vases. Abbie designed and created our centrepieces, which included bespoke walking signs with the names of the Wainwright Routes located near the venue. She used wooden bases to hold yellow Volkswagen Campervan photo holders with a paranoid picture of Abbie, myself and Cali. 48
