Your Gloucestershire and Wiltshire Wedding- April/May 2020 (Issue 20)

I purchased my wedding dress from an outlet shop because I absolutely loved it! I was on holiday with our son William, my mother, and Tilly, my chief bridesmaid, and we thought that we would pop in to see what was on sale. This was the fourth gown that I tried on and I loved it. We visited the shop again a few days later and I loved it just as much - the back featured amazing detail and I teamed it with a white feather shrug. My wedding shoes were my something old that I found on Ebay. My something new were the freshwater pearls that my mother bought for me and my bridesmaids from South Africa. My veil was my something borrowed from a lady that my mother worked with - it was beautiful and featured sparkles similar to those on my dress. My something blu e was when I borrowed our photographer, Nikki’s, pashmina at the church because I was cold! I also carried a lucky horseshoe. Our wedding menu was delicious. For starters, we served our guests a choice of salmon and caper fishcakes with wilted spinach and hollandaise sauce or heirloom tomato salad with goat’s cheese bon bons and fresh basil. The main was pan-roasted chicken supreme with fondant potato, roasted carrot, wilted spinach and creamy wholegrain mustard with tarragon sauce, or braised beef blade steak served with roasted root vegetables, creamy mash and ale gravy. Our guests loved the choice of desserts that included a pistachio and lemon cake with raspberry curd, poached peach and amaretti biscuit, and the other option which was a duo of Crème Brûlée including dark chocolate and orange with lange du chat French cookies.
