Your East Midlands Wedding - August/September 2020 (Issue 39)

37 The bridesmaids had a smaller version of my bouquet. I always wanted to have flowers on the cake, so we looked at different ways we could make this work. The edible flowers were from a local company called Hockley Homegrown. Our cake topper was from Norma and Dorothy. We liked the stags as we had our engagement shoot at Wollaton Park. Outside, we had various wooden crates and boxes in the garden filled with garden games, and we spray painted tin cans and stacked them on ladders to create a tin can alley. We had lots of bunting, signs, fairylights and various hand-decorated jars around the venue. Our wedding car was Rich’s grandparents 1981 Mercedes that had been unused for many years and was revamped for our big day. We hand decorated tins cans to trail out of the boot. Most of our food was supplied by the venue. Our canapés were bruschetta, halloumi, fish fingers and cocktail sausages and we chose a mixed grill barbecue for our relaxed wedding breakfast with an amazing burrata and watermelon salad, and dauphinoise potatoes. Our evening food was pizza – we loved that it could be brought out to the dancefloor, so people didn’t need to miss dancing time to eat. We had a pick ‘n’ mix during the day and s’mores in the evening while utilising the venues firepits! For our entertainment, we had an artist sing our favourite songs. REAL WEDDINGS
