Your East Midlands Wedding - Feb/Mar 2020 (Issue 36)

The reception venue was very much influenced by location as we wanted somewhere close to the church and with rooms so our guests could relax and stay over. We liked Barnsdale Lodge because we didn’t feel as though we’re just next on the wedding conveyor belt. The groomsmen wore navy three-piece suits, which we let them pick as we didn’t want everything to be too matching. It worked really well and we provided the ties and pocket squares. Flowers were really important to me; my bouquet was big, wild and beautiful – I hardly put them down! We added some rich, darker tones at the last minute and I think it really pulled everything together. For favours we had small candles – the scent was called Wedding Day. Our table plan was a nod to our shared love of Leicester City. The table names were all named after famous players and managers from the club. My beautiful friend Suzy made a three-tier naked-cake with iced flowers – it was so special to us. For place names we picked small perspex coasters that sat on top of the napkin. Ian wore a navy suit with a separate light grey waistcoat and a grey tie and pocket square. 49 REAL WEDDINGS
