Your East Midlands Wedding - Dec/Jan 2019 (Issue 35)

The place names each had an individual, quirky key tied with twine to Kraft. We opted for a four-tier navy and gold steampunk cake. It was adorned with an icing model of Aidan’s grandad’s pocket watch and my grandma’s ring. For other decoration we had lanterns with flowers on throughout, candelabras on each table with the photographs of each maiden. I wore a gown from Brides of Ashby, from its Ladybird Collection. I gasped when I saw it in the shop window, it fit perfectly and flattered my figure so well – I was in love. A few tiny alterations later and I had my dream gown. For transport, we had a Beaufort adorned with pink and navy ribbons. We used the maiden names of the women in our family tree as table names, which we wrote on a huge, ornate mirror. We made it into a ‘Find Your Maiden’ game. 40
