Your Yorkshire Wedding - September/October 2020 (Issue 44)

Steven told me about a place where his family had celebrated his nanna’s 80 th birthday, Whitley Hall Hotel. When we visited, we loved that it had a peaceful country feel but it was still in Sheffield. The building was old and quaint and the stunning grounds were perfect for photos. To top if off, the staff were really friendly and welcoming. We opted for a neutral palette for our flowers but with a touch of burgundy to tie in with the bridesmaids’ dresses. The centrepieces were small mirror plates with cream birdcages sat on top surrounded by scattered petals and crystals. On my bouquet, I had a photo charm of my late stepfather who sadly passed away earlier in the year. Our Venice engagement was an inspiration for the day. We named the tables after landmarks in the city and gave small corked bottles of limoncello as favours. I made the table plan from an old set of wooden step ladders, which I decorated with lights. Our square cake had three delicious tiers of lemon, chocolate and Victoria sponge. We were lucky to have it made by a family friend.  REAL WEDDINGS 23
