Pete wore his RAF uniform and his ushers wore the same. The ‘sword party’ looked fantastic. I tried on three or four dresses before I found the one . I wanted something classic and timeless and also really wanted a British designer. Vivienne Westwood is the epitome of an iconic, strong British female. . Our guests enjoyed a picnic of Yorkshire pork pies and cheese from Hinchliffe’s farm, Scotch Eggs from Bears Pantry, and they all got hooked on the truffle honey. Y our future husband of course has to meet the approval of your besties so it was only right to get it out of the way early for Fiona and Pete. “We’d met at a friend’s wedding but had arranged to get together while I was visiting Edinburgh and Pete was living in St Andrews. Our first date was really fun but Pete faced an intense round of questions from my friend Helen,” says Fiona. Fortunately for the duo, Pete passed with flying colours and they’ve never looked back. The proposal was a surprise for Fiona who was enjoying time with her man on the Isle of Harris. “It was the last day of the holiday and we were on the beach in the rain, it was very romantic,” says Fiona. Their day took around 10 months to organise, with Fiona telling us how to create the perfect picnic celebration... We loved Gibson Mill at Hardcastle crags as it’s simple, natural and had no frills. It has heaps of character and the charm is off the grid. We felt happy that our money was going towards the National Trust. 30
