Your Surrey Wedding- April/May 2020 (Issue 82)

I wore a dress made by The Farnham Boutique called Maya . I had it adapted to suit my style. It was form-fitted with a gorgeous lace train. I decided against a veil and instead accessorised with a lovely headpiece that I weaved into my long plait. My seven bridesmaids wore mint green dresses. The sleeves could be altered, which worked out perfectly as I didn’t want anyone to feel uncomfortable on the day. For our honeymoon, we visited Thailand for a week, travelled across to the Phi Phi Islands for a few days and then headed to Bali for the last two weeks. It was an unforgettable experience. We trekked through jungles, explored secluded islands and even had lunch with monkeys. It was the perfect way to celebrate our marriage and the special love we share. To keep our guests entertained, we had Mike’s band, The Breezy Trees, perform. Our friends and family had no idea he was going to play, so it was a lovely surprise for everyone. Mike lives in shorts – even in the winter! So it would have been wrong for him to get married in anything else. He opted for smart shorts from Debenhams, with a white shirt and braces. The groomsmen wore the same with light grey bow ties. We’ve been together 10 years, so neither of us felt particularly nervous. We were so ready to get married and couldn’t wait to spend the rest of our lives together. We loved walking around the lake after the ceremony, and it’s a moment I’ll never forget. We could just be together and enjoy each other’s company before entertaining our loved ones for the rest of the day. REAL WEDDINGS 49 
