AND BEAUTIFUL Bold, bright Lyndsey and Natalie styled their big day in an oh-so on trend zingy palette of hot pink and bright orange Images courtesy of Pril Wood of Stephanie Dreams Photography Natalie proposed to Lyndsey on Valentine’s Day at The Grand in Brighton. Natalie arranged for a taxi to pick Lyndsey up from home and met her at the hotel bar under the guise of a romantic short break. After a couple of cocktails, they took a bottle of fizz up to their junior suite, which Natalie had decorated with ‘Marry Me’ in lights. When Natalie popped the question to a blindfolded Lyndsey, of course, she said, “yes,” and the couple went ring shopping in The Lanes the following day. Despite initially shortlisting venues while in Brighton, they ultimately fell for The Dome, Worthing. “We loved the history and heritage of The Dome,” Lyndsey explains. “The outlook from the balcony onto the beach was also perfect!” The couple opted for the oh-so on trend palette of hot pink and bright orange, bringing the sunshine to their big day. “Our flowers were stunning and we decorated the tables with record album covers in place of table numbers,” Lyndsey tells us. Each setting boasted a Champagne coupe glass filled with wedding favours. The reception room was a neon dream with 15 different lights as a backdrop to the big-day bake – a macaron tower topped with a cutting cake. Guests enjoyed the couple’s favourite pink fizz as they arrived and were later served three different types of paella on the balcony. As the evening drew in, pizzas were delivered from the local pizzeria to top up those tummies in time for the DJ to kick off the party. Lyndsey and Natalie both wore bespoke dresses from local designer Velvet Birdcage. Neither saw the other’s gown until the big reveal in the morning, which they did at The Grand, where they got ready, on the internal balcony. The ladies were led down the aisle by their three sons, who were also in charge of the rings. The couple’s preparations at The Grand with their friends and children featured some of their favourite moments. “We gifted our children a Hummer that picked us up from the hotel and took us to The Dome,” Lyndsey says. The photoshoot inside the cinema, with photographer Pril, was also a memorable highlight for them. The moment the newlyweds made their big entrance after being declared wife and wife, will forever be fondly remembered, and they later made a joint speech that they wrote the night before while staying at The Grand. Neil proposed to his love, Emma, at Amberley Castle while on a weekend away together. He wasted no time and got down one knee in the room after they checked in. “I was in total shock but said 100 percent yes!” Emma shares. The couple both adore old buildings and open fires, so Bailiffscourt, which is also local to them, was a must when it came to choosing a wedding venue. “We knew the gardens and grounds would be perfect for photos and being able to have the entire event at one venue was important to us,” Emma explains. With the wedding date set for wintertime, the couple chose a seasonal theme with snowflake motif and a palette of teal and mauve. The invitations introduced the snowflake theme, and it was followed through with snowflake lights and table décor on the big day. Teal and mauve muslin draped the tables, topped with palette-coordinated candles and holders. The beautiful blooms were selected in complementary hues of cream and mauve with rosemary added in remembrance of loved ones lost. Bailiffscourt’s catering was a real treat with canapés served to guests during the drinks reception, followed by a three-course menu of pressed ham hock and parsley terrine with sauce gribiche, chicken supreme served with potato purée, kale, and a morel mushroom and red wine sauce. The wedding breakfast was finished with warm baked apple and almond puff pastry galette, with butterscotch sauce and vanilla ice cream. 34
The bride’s dress was custom-made by Carolyn Keyes, her needlework teacher from boarding school, now a wedding dress designer. “I bought the fabric while on holiday in Madeira,” Emma says. Carolyn has retired, but was keen to make the gown as her swansong. Neil wore an Italian designer navy suit from Stephen Lawrence in Chichester, with a teal tie, cufflinks and pocket square. His groomsmen were dressed to match. The bridesmaids looked elegant in deep burgundy dresses, the perfect colour choice for the season. Beautiful harp music filled the air during the day, with the setlist carefully curated by the bride, groom and harpist Kate. “We had perfect weather, the perfect venue and had all of our close family surrounding us – what more could you ask for?” Emma says. The bride also has some great words of wisdom for those of you planning your big day: “It’s never too early to start your planning. Book your venue as soon as possible to secure the date. If nothing is left until the last minute, the run-up to the day is more leisurely. Wear what you want no matter your age, then relax and enjoy the day as it unfolds.” REAL WEDDINGS 35
