Your North West Wedding - April/May 2026 (Issue 97)

Abi and Dan met online and their relationship quickly blossomed. When it came time to propose, Dan organised a holiday to Mexico and planned a day trip to the natural cenotes. At the very last minute, he decided this would be the perfect place to ask the question. He left Abi waiting at reception for the coach while he ran back to their room to grab the ring and attempted to video call her dad and stepdad to ask their permission. With the time difference, neither could answer, so he sent them a video message instead, hoping for their blessing before he proposed. As they were deep in the Mexican forest, they wouldn’t see the replies until they returned to the hotel – by which time he had already popped the question. After ziplining into a natural river and swimming beneath a waterfall that felt straight out of a David Attenborough documentary, Dan asked Abi to be his wife. “I was completely caught off guard,” she says. “It was truly the perfect way he could have asked and of course my family were always going to say yes.” When choosing a venue, the couple instantly fell in love with Mitton Hall. They adored its blend of historic charm and modern elegance. “It felt like the perfect combination of our two styles,” says Abi. 30
