Your North West Wedding- October/November 2020 (Issue 64)

We set up a sweet station, toys for the children to play with, blankets for our guests to use in the evening and apple crates with photos of absent friends. The mother-of-the-groom, Heather, kindly made our wedding cake. We spent months looking at pictures and deciding which colours we wanted. We opted for a four-tier design with a grey and white marbled bottom decorated with roses and eucalyptus. It was made up of traditional fruit cake, lemon and Victoria sponge. We alternated our centrepieces between silver candelabra draped with avalanche roses and halos of eucalyptus placed around staggered candles. As the tables at Mitton Hall were round, it was important to us that our guests could still see and talk to each other without the decorations being too prominent. Our table plan was designed by Tom’s sister, Lizzie. Each table was named after a place in The Lake District that we’d visited. Lizzie tied in our navy blue, blush pink and rose gold colour scheme throughout all our stationery. The first time we approached Mitton Hall, we were impressed by the grand entrance and sold before we even stepped foot indoors. In the Great Hall was a grand Christmas tree, a roaring fire, decorations and beautiful surroundings. We also loved the Party Room, which has traditional features, and a modern and light décor. Our flowers and hanging foliage were from Honeys Hideaway. We chose blush pink blooms with O’Hara roses and sweet avalanche roses. Stef was great at adding texture and depth to the arrangements using silver bruni and a mixture of senecio foliage. 34
