Your London Wedding - January/February 2021 (Issue 75)

THE OLD FINSBURY TOWN HALL What are your top tips for wedding planning during a pandemic? ❤ Make sure you contact the registrars as early as possible t o book in your wedding – they have such a backlog after the disruption of 2020 that dates are limited. They’ll also be able to advise on restrictions and guidelines. ❤ Get creative for smaller weddings by including Zoom calls in your ceremony for those who can’t attend. One of our couples even brought in cardboard cutouts of their family, which went down brilliantly for the pictures! Nicola Erlank | www.theoldfinsburytownhall.co.uk PLANNING We get the wed-min lowdown from some of London’s most sought-after suppliers OMG you’re engaged! After all the excitement of the proposal, there’s the dawning realisation that you have to plan a once-in-a-lifetime event – oh, and you’re the centre of attention. Do not fear! We’ve asked some of our favourite wedding companies to give us their top tips for what to consider before booking your suppliers and how you can adapt your day if you plan to wed during the pandemic… SOS ROUND ONE EDWIN MARCOW PHOTOGRAPHY How can you get the best out of your wedding photography? ❤ No matter what style your photographer shoots in, you’ll get maximum creativity from them with a good plan in place. I often visit the venue twice, at least once with the couple, to scout out the best locations for iconic portraits. A good plan means we can work out timings for couple shots, family shots and group shots, so you can get back to family and friends. ❤ I love to plan a sneak-out shoot between the main course and dessert. I will have already chosen the location and my second photographer will have everything set up so we can shoot some amazing images. The newlyweds are back in time for dessert, before anyone has noticed they’re gone! How can you help couples adapt their day during the pandemic? ❤ Whether you postpone or hold a micro-wedding, make sure you email all the important information such as dates and times and copy everyone in. I have had wedding planners forget to give me revised running orders – even before the pandemic! ❤ Be as flexible as possible, with rules changing by the week, be prepared to be fluid in your planning. An intimate wedding can be just as special as a grand affair. Edwin Marcow | www.edwinmarcow.com GOODENOUGH COLLEGE How can you help couples adapt their day during the pandemic? Live-steaming is a wonderful solution for couples who choose to get married at this time. Another option we’re recommending is to have an intimate ceremony with us in 2021, followed by a larger celebration with extended family and friends on your first anniversary in 2022 – that way you get the best of both worlds.
