Your London Wedding - November/December 2020 (Issue 74)

REAL WEDDINGS 47  We decided against favours and added the money to the bar tab. We feel like favours aren’t always appreciated, and we wanted to spend our money where it counted. We knew our guests would like an extra glass of fizz! We had eaten at the venue on numerous occasions, but as it’s a seasonal menu, we had to wait until July before we could try the summer menu. We wanted to keep it light, so went with a taco starter, chicken for main and a sorbet for dessert. We had a range of sharing plates and sides on the tables too, which worked perfectly. I was looking for a modern, strappy gown with a low back. I had a hot summer’s day planned in my head, so I wanted my dress to be light so I could throw the train over my arm for the walk to the venue. Sienna by Made With Love was exactly that. When I found a London stockist I booked an appointment and it was love at first sight. I accessorised it with a simple beaded headpiece and pearl earrings from my gran. Si and his groomsmen looked handsome in suits from Jack Bunneys – the tailoring was amazing given that they were all different shapes and sizes. I wanted my bridesmaids to feel comfortable and have something they could wear again. We found the perfect meadow green styles in Topshop. We had Brendan Mills on the sax and DJing; he is seriously talented musically but also at understanding what you want and delivering it perfectly. He had guests toe-tapping during the welcome drinks to chilled Ibiza-style anthems before ramping it up for the party. He was never cheesy or deliberately stealing the show, he just brought the energy and got people on their feet.
