Your London Wedding - September/October 2020 (Issue 73)

REAL WEDDINGS 51  For us, the key to a good wedding is keeping people well fed and watered – so we had two canapé receptions! Once we tasted Cocotte’s canapés at an Asylum Chapel open evening, we had to have them. They also served delicious mince pies and mulled wine. We wanted to add as much personalisation as possible to our wedding, so we gave our guests three choices for each of the three courses at The Happenstance. I knew I wanted a dress with sleeves, but I tried a lot on and nothing was quite right. When I saw my Allure Bridal dress, it was the perfect shape with sleeves and sparkle on the top – it was the one. My hair was a big part of my confidence throughout the wedding and my make-up stayed on all day; I’d recommend my hair and make-up artists, Katy and Katya, in a flash! Traditional Travel provided Routemaster buses between the venues. They were fantastic, allowing us to take a more scenic route over Tower Bridge and letting our guests have a celebratory drink on board. They even pulled over halfway to allow us to swap buses and spend time with everyone. Iain and his best men found a great Paul Smith lounge suit for him, which he paired with a Liberty tie. We gave the groomsmen their ties, pocket squares and socks, and they wore their own navy suits. My bridesmaids coordinated beautifully in navy gowns with sparkly tops. Our live band, Covers in Arms, came as a recommendation from a work friend; they were awesome! They played a slowed-down version of Coldplay’s Sky Full of Stars for our first dance, with our guests joining in for the energetic part of the song. The dancefloor was full all night.
