Your London Wedding - September/October 2020 (Issue 73)

50 Our theme was London sparkle, and we wanted everything to represent us as much as possible. Our florist, Floral Evolution, was amazing in terms of ideas, support and flexibility. The flowers had a crisp, wintry feel, with a pop of blue thistles. Catherine was a dream to work with; she understood what we wanted completely, making the flowers totally stress free. We have a lot of special people in our lives so we were keen to include them as much as possible in the day. With our friends and family involved in the ceremony, it made a really joyous occasion filled with love and energy. We also asked our loved ones to collect flowers from their gardens to make confetti – we ended up with petals from our childhood gardens and places where we had lots of happy memories. After the ease of finding our ceremony setting, finding the reception venue was hard. We wanted somewhere that wasn’t too far for us to travel and offered flexibility with catering. We met with Gemma at The Anthologist, but she ended up recommending another one of Drake & Morgan’s venues, The Happenstance. It was the perfect size and boasted iconic London views, and its name means happy coincidence – perfect! For a sweet treat, we had a gluten-free cake from M&S, which we finished off with a cake topper from Etsy. The favours were small pots of honey made by Iain’s dad’s bees in Essex. The labels featured the same London skyline as our save-the-dates and the Bumble logo as a nod to how we met. We didn’t want a traditional top table, instead opting to have everyone on round tables. Throughout the wedding planning, we saved our empty alcohol bottles, which we decorated with fairylights and used as a table plan. Me and my mum went on a calligraphy course run by Oh Wonder Calligraphy, and we really enjoyed creating the place settings using our new skill.
