Your London & Surrey Wedding - July/August 2026 (Issue 108)

Why newlyweds should book a romantic escape at Nut eld Priory Hotel & Spa Rising above the Surrey countryside, with Neo-Gothic towers and Victorian architecture, Nut eld Priory Hotel & Spa feels like a hidden castle retreat. Inspired by the grandeur of the Palace of Westminster and dating back to 1872, despite the striking façade and history, the atmosphere inside is warm and inviting, a home from home particularly reiterated by the friendly staff. For our overnight dinner, bed and breakfast stay, we checked into the hotel’s most celebrated room, the Byron Suite… STAYING IN THE BYRON SUITE Hidden within the west tower, the Byron Suite feels wonderfully theatrical. Spread across two oors and entered via a winding staircase, the suite immediately feels exclusively private and indulgent – designed for romantic weekends. The rst oor houses an elegant dressing area and bathroom; at its centre sits a raised Victorian roll-top bath, alongside a spacious double shower and twin basins with exclusive toiletries. Upstairs, the bedroom and living space boasts contemporary furnishings balancing the historic character of the tower. The focal point, is the bespoke hand-carved cherry wood four-poster bed – enormous, super-comfortable, and perfectly framed by original sash windows on three sides revealing panoramic views across Surrey and Sussex queue an abundance of light! Every detail felt carefully considered: the complimentary drinks trolley, fresh milk in the fridge, luxury bathrobes, Hypnos cashmere mattress, coffee machine, and thoughtful hospitality tray all adding to the feeling of high-end service. And despite the grandeur, there’s comfort too — the sort that makes you instantly relax and enjoy some R&R. DINNER AT CLOISTERS As evening arrived, we headed down to Cloisters, the hotel’s award-winning 2AA Rosette restaurant – and arguably one of the most atmospheric dining rooms in Surrey. Neo-Gothic arches soar overhead, intricate stone carvings line the walls, and mullioned windows frame sweeping countryside views. Dinner here feels like an occasion! The seasonal British menu strikes a lovely balance between classic and contemporary. Every dish felt re ned without being overly complicated, allowing the quality of the local ingredients to shine through. Service was attentive yet relaxed, and as much of the memory as the setting – thank you to Abdul, Alek and Al e! A SPA RETREAT Beyond the suites and dining, Nut eld Priory offers facilities that make it dif cult to leave the grounds at all. The spa and wellness areas provide a calm and restorative space. Guests can relax in the indoor swimming pool and spa pool, or completely switch off in the sauna and steam room, where the atmosphere creates an instant sense of calm. For those looking for deeper relaxation, the hotel offers nine treatment rooms with a range of luxurious therapies delivered by highly trained therapists using premium spa brands.
