In fact, Alexander had harboured a crush on Rebecca for some time without her knowledge. So it was, as they left school, they began the next chapter of their lives together as a couple. Roll on eight years, and the pair were away together, skiing in France with a group of friends. Rebecca remembers: “We all went to the top of a mountain and took it in turns to have photos taken. When it was our turn, Alexander said he had a surprise for me, and in a split second he was down on one knee proposing!” He’d managed to keep his plans from everyone present, as the only other person who knew was Rebecca’s dad, who had been asked for his daughter’s hand.
