They got on well together from the get-go and nothingʼs changed since. “We immediately clicked and just found it really easy to be around each other,” says Miranda. Romance blossomed and on a trip to Edinburgh in October 2018 Matthew popped the question. It was no easy task though as his plans were thwarted more than once. “It was a few days before my birthday and Matthew had wrapped the ring in birthday paper to put me off the scent in case I found it,” Miranda explains. He originally planned to propose on Arthurʼs Peak, an extinct volcano in Edinburgh, but after making the steep climb to the summit there were too many people about. “We headed back down, with me still unaware that heʼd been carrying the ring with him the whole time,” recalls Miranda. Plan B, involving a romantic hill walk to watch the sunrise, had to be scrapped too as when they got to the top a protest was taking place. Back down again, and still not engaged, it was a case of third time lucky. Miranda continues, “That evening we went for a lovely meal in the city and then walked up to Edinburgh castle. It was beautifully lit up and as we were looking out over the city from the drawbridge, Matthew finally popped the question. Of course, I said yes!” Read on for her account of their big day... 28
