Your Hampshire and Dorset Wedding - March/April 2024 (Issue 103)

pair embraced one of the bride’s favourite shades to infuse vibrancy into the celebration with the flowers alongside the aisle. The bridal party bouquets were a stunning mixture of peach dahlias, white roses and an array of pale pink, yellow and green hues. Each bloom was carefully chosen to embody the essence of late summer. The bride had a larger bouquet with trailing foliage to make a more significant statement. The junior bridesmaids had flower crowns made with miniature roses that matched what the groomsmen had in their pocket meadows. Ben and Aimee have attended humanist wedding ceremonies in Scotland and had no clue they weren’t legal in the UK! Once they realised this, they had a very short space of time to book a legal registrar and had to decide if they should be legally married before or after the wedding! Luckily, a registrar was available at 3 pm that day, meaning they could have a private, legal ceremony with their parents present. At the same time, everyone else enjoyed the drinks reception, magician and live music! There’s nothing worse than being at a wedding and starving! The couple wanted to ensure guests were well fed with their favourite food: sausage and mash or pie and mash, weekday staples in their home. The lovebirds didn’t do the traditional wedding favours, and instead we gave guests party props like sunglasses and floral leis with the sign ‘We got engaged in Hawaii, so please get lei’d at our wedding.’ They also received paper fans for people to use during the day. Table names were all local places the pair regularly visited, including Bolton’s Bench, where they had their first date, the Pilates studio where Amiee worked and Ben attended classes, and some funny ones like Costco and their local Indian restaurant. Lizzie and her incredible team from Love’s Labours decorated the tables with vintage vases and flower petals, using various beautiful flowers and displays. It was Ben’s birthday soon after the couple initially met, and the bride had ordered him a lemon and lime cheesecake from Bee’s Homemade Cheesecakes as a surprise. The owner, Bee, is fabulous and is now quite a staple for their birthday celebrations; her gluten-free cheesecakes are amazing! So, it was only fitting that she was a part of the wedding celebrations and created canapés for everyone to nibble on rather than a traditional cake or dessert. LOOKING THE PART The bride booked an appointment at Anya Bridal Couture to find the perfect gown, which was made possible thanks to the kind and fun team. Aimee says, “Lyndsay made me feel very comfortable as I had no idea what style I wanted; I just wanted to feel good! I picked two gowns I liked and then asked my montage to choose other styles. My friend Heather saw style 6916 by Stella York, which was hidden in the rail and I knew it was the one as soon as I tried it on.” The modern crepe wedding dress with a scalloped train looked stunning on the bride, and the high-illusion neckline is the focal point of this organic-inspired bodice with asymmetrical floral laces. The bride accessorised with a beautiful veil that featured embroidered lace on the edges, perfectly in keeping with the floral theme and colour scheme. She comments, “I felt happy with how I looked; I loved my hair and how the dress shaped my body – I just hoped Ben would like it.” The groomsmen wore sky blue three-piece tweed suits from Peter Posh, with the groom’s suit being different to ensure he stood out. Ben wore a soft lapis blue tweed check three-piece Dion suit from Marc Darcy. The suits were teamed with vibrant tangerine ties and rather than the traditional buttonhole, the groomsmen wore pocket meadows created by Kim from Mary Elizabeth Flowers. The page boys wore trousers of similar colour from H&M, braces and matching tangerine bow ties. Amiee managed to source a matching wedding suit bandana for the handsome and very fluffy ring bearer, the two-year-old Eurasier – Bruce! She found Canines and Confetti on Etsy, and they were so helpful in creating REAL WEDDINGS 47
