Your Herts and Beds Wedding - December 2021/January 2022 (Issue 89)

Q&A Our experts give their advice to help you look your big-day best BIG-DAY BEAUTIFUL How can I care for my skin in the run-up to my wedding to ensure I look fabulous on the day? Start your skincare prep at least two months before the wedding and make sure to include a cleanser, toner, serum, eye cream and moisturiser. Start going for facials and regularly exfoliate your skin to remove any dead skin cells and allow new ones to come to the surface. What you put into your body affects your skin, hair and nails. Try to drink a minimum of two litres of water a day, while eating lots of green veg, fruit, fish and healthy fats. Reduce or avoid caffeine plus alcohol and switch to herbal teas instead. It’s essential to look after your gut health, so eat prebiotics, probiotics and enzymes to help feed the bacteria in your gut. This will help you digest and absorb nutrients from your food better. Upgrade your skincare to result-driven brands with higher concentrated ingredients that contain hyaluronic acid, retinol or vitamin C. Retinol or retinoids reduce fine lines and wrinkles by increasing collagen production, but it needs to be used in small amounts at first to reduce skin irritation – you’ll need to wear an SPF every day as well. Hyaluronic acid helps fade any pigmentation or dark spots, while working as a humectant to attract moisture – great for dry skin. Vitamin C is one of the best anti-ageing ingredients to use as it accelerates the production of both collagen and elastin, which help keep the skin plump and firm. I’ve recently been recommending a range called AgeWell from an online brand called Arbonne. The quality and results of this range are brilliant and contains all three of these wonderful ingredients.
